Red dot sight and a laser for tactical shotgun
« on: August 18, 2012, 04:08:21 AM »
I'm finally going to be picking up my Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader that I've been wanting in the next week or so. I've already got most all of the modifications planned out but I'm still undecided on what red dot and what laser to get. I don't want to spend EOTech money on a red dot but I don't want a POS either. What do you guys recommend? I'd prefer $100-200 for the red dot and $100-150 for the laser.

Check out primary arms for their red dots, and replace the laser with a weapon mounted light. primary arms also has a 70 dollar light with mount included, that is almost 800 lumens

Yeah I'm with Jared on ditching the laser for a light.

Agree with Jared and Dom. I put a side saddle and light on mine. Been debating a red dot sight, but nothing really peaks my interest for a shotgun really. Lol.

Ditto.  Or, more accurately in my view, just pick either the laser or the red dot...but not both.  I can't imagine that seeing two different dots on my target in a high-stress situation is going to be helpful.

I've already got a Streamlight TLR1-S that I'm going to be putting on there. The laser was just going to be for the hell of it really.

well, invest that money into a side saddle, and some internal upgrades or a mag extension.

What everyone else said. Lasers are kind if gimmicky in my opinion. Not as intuitive as red dots and take some practice to use well.

Would love to hear a report on your Persuader when you get a chance.

Yessir.... I put a sure fire fore-end and a c-more on mine... It's super intuitive and the light output is super

I like the Burris SpeedBead, but they aren't available for Mossberg because of the tang safety.

http://www.redringusa.com/ These look good too, but it only mounts on the rib of a vent-rib barrel which most Tactical guns don't have.  It is DEFINITELY NOT CHEAP though!

Yeah this build no longer exists lol. The Mossberg sits in the corner collecting dust and I'm spending all of my money on parts for my AR10 and AR15 SPR builds.  :rocknroll2:
