Guess it depends on what you mean by "area" :)

Spring Guns & Ammo is 9 miles from the center of Tomball according to Google. Good indoor range, can shoot pistol and rifle up to 25 yards or so.

Have you shot there?

Here's a link to a Google map of some ranges (and taco stands if you're into it) from http://www.gunsandtacos.com:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=110018337493879118082.0004707b267f2e8706b42&ll=29.764973,-95.321503&spn=0.443465,0.886459&source=embed

It's missing Spring G&A and probably more, don't think it's been updated in a while.

Yes I have. Brand new, very nicely climate controlled, Monday night IDPA if you're into it (though it's tons of new shooters and has tended to go slow; but there is at least one master-level shooter, Aaron Roberts, to learn from), and I believe a GSSF match this month or next.

Not quite the Tomball area :)

I'm about a mile from Hot Wells and I think I've only gone there four or five times in the last year.

I'm right there with you.  Hot Wells is an oddity of the gene pool.
