I practice alot at 15 yds. My accuracy is slowly--very slowly-- getting better at this distance. I can get in the 7 ring consistently with any pistol I have. I can stay in the 9 ring consistently with my 1911, M9, PX4, and SR9. My G17, 22 leave some room for improvement.

MY edc is a g26 and I can get in the 8 ring most of the time with a few 7 ringers.

I'm one of those folks who find the g26 more accurate than the g17. I love the g17 but damn if I can't shoot it nearly as good as any other gun.

at 7, yds I can really get the accuracy I like which leaves me feeling somewhat content that my accuracy is consistenly good at 7 yds.

I change it up when at the range. I practice at everything 5-15 yards. With my 1911's sometimes stretch it out to 25 yards. When I take my 460S&W out I shoot 100-200 yards.

After reading this I went out and tried 3 yards.  THREE?  C'mon, at that distance I can practically swing the pistol and conk a BG in the head.  I usually shoot at 10 or 15 yards, sometimes at 20 but rarely more.  If they're further than 20 yards I'll grab a rifle.

Yea, I see people at the range sometimes that can barely handle 3 yards

I find that the gun affects the distance at which I can accurately shoot and stay within a 4" group.

Heavier guns are easier.  I can consistently do 4" at 7-10 yards with my .45 and 9mm.  But the 5.7 is another matter.  It is VERY sensitive to trigger pull and can be off by 5-6" at 0800 with a bad pull, while with the heavier guns it's 3-4".

YMMV

I"m finding that the trigger and grip are the secret to accuracy for me.  And seeing the target :icon_wink:

Now if i could just see the  sights better for those longer shots.  Damn old age.

Not that I practice much any more (I pretty much only shoot IDPA now), but... when I run matches I try to always make sure there are 20 yard shots. If I could go out to 35 yards I would throw a few of those in there. It makes you realize how much easier the close shots are when you can draw and put a round on target at 35 yards in 2.5 seconds (which I did at a recent match and was still a half second away from the fastest time even).

I attended a major IDPA match this weekend and they had one 40 yard and two 35 yard targets. I'm very glad I've been working on understanding how to shoot under pressure at distance. I did put 3-4 rounds on each of those targets (when only 2 were required), but I did hit right where I was aiming :)

Hate the long shots in IDPA (thanks Adam lol) but at the range I practice mostly 10-15 yards.

10 - 15. Then play around at 50 yards usually shooting either watermelons or pumpkins.  Lol.

3,7, and 10 yds.  Don't joke about three yards.  Most LEO's that are killed in the line of duty are shot at five feet or less.
Honest, my guns were all lost in a croquet accident.

Mostly 5, 7, and 10 yards.  If I haven't been to the range for a while, I'll usually shoot a mag at 3 yards.  If shooting decently at 10 yards, I'll do some at 15 and 25  --  25 is usually a joke for me  --  front sight covers most of the target, and I don't see all that well.  If I can repeat my hold and trigger pull, and get a decent sized group at 25, I'm a VERY happy camper.

10'-12' indoors
7 yards outdoors
Too old for longer distances.  And if the bad guy is that far away(>7 yards), I'm running away.

I typically shoot at 14 yards with handguns of all flavors except my long tube magnums in 357 and 44. They range from 25 yards to 75 yards depending if it is scoped or not.

Here is one that is accurate out to about 75 yards (at least for me), I have had friends shoot these are further distances:

7-15 yards

Ditto, though mainly 7 to 10 yards. I'd like to get technically proficient at closer ranges, first, before I tackle consistently shooting at longer ranges.

7-15 yards here also, mostly because the range I go to is setup that way.

A Handgun Safe is an extremely critical piece of equipment for any person that considers their self to be a responsible gun owner. Guns present a danger when they are present if not handled with respect.

A bit off topic....I disagree.  I have no children anywhere in my house.  Just me and my girlfriend.  What do I need a handgun safe for?  When I'm not at home my handgun is with me and when I am at home what difference does it make?
