What's your choice for coolers?
« on: July 29, 2020, 12:36:14 PM »
Hey Outdoorsmen and Outdoorswomen,

I want to get a better cooler... one where the ice won't melt as fast and turn the contents into a soggy mess. Any suggestions as to make and/or model? Do you ever use dry ice? How does that work out?

I have been happy with my igloo bmx.
Its a better model than the cheapo ones. Similar to YETI but not near as much $$ It was like 80.00 at Academy I use it for my weekend trips to my property. It will hold ice for 2 days key is keep it as full as possible AIR space is the enemy in ice longevity.
This isnt mine but this is the model

Most any of the newer top brands on the market. Coolers have gotten much better over the years.

I have an older igloo that has storage racks in it. So food can be kept up out of the melting ice.

I really like it as your sammich stuff does no get went or submerged.

And the water tap on the side can be used for ice water, washing hands, erc, or just draining off excess water.

The whole point is I really like the racks. They're very useful.
Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often, and for the same reason.

There are two kinds of people in the world my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. YOU DIG.  " Blondie".

Well, any man that wouldnt cheat at cards for a poke, dont want one bad enough. " Gus".

I just have what most people and younger
people would consider cheap junky
coolers. A mixture of igloo and Coleman.
The main thing is to not be opening it
and digging around through it every 15-20
minutes. Keep in in the shade as much as
possible, and covering with a couple of
large towels or a folded blanket or such
helps tremendously.

I know I know, but here it is anyway

If you're one of the gazillion people
that just can't make a trip without
popping a top one after another,
keep all your barley drinks in a
dedicated cooler separate from
your food and such and things
will work out much better for you.
You won't have to worry about your
sandwiches taking a swim

Those are excellent suggestion Ranger. But if you have kids, they kind of go by the wayside! Even some adults!  :th_thicon_lol:
