..one of the Wife's projects..
« on: July 03, 2020, 02:47:38 PM »
.
this is a nice Crepe Myrtle on the edge of the driveway, somewhat close to the house - it "had" a bunch of not-so-attractive hedge-type bushes surrounding it, with vines and all sorts of nasty crap growing in the mess.....I couldn't stand looking at it so a while back I used the Tractor, an axe, shovel and loppers to get everything away from the tree

after all was removed we discovered this small brick "wall" and a couple of large stones - my Wife had topsoil brought in, then sod - I put address numbers on the wall (just for grins) and she made a little flower bed in front of the brick

the sod has taken hold and the flowers are blooming and I think she did a great job....:

Crepe's are incredibly cool trees, and are gorgeous when they bloom.  We have about 6, unfortunately 4 are planted a few feet from Juniper's that are overgrown by the Junipers.....

Which I'm still waiting for DCD, Axxe or Shield to show up one night and cut the Junipers down :)

I do hope my ex-wife is enjoying the crepe myrtles I planted about twenty five years ago. They were about 4' tall when I planted them. I might take a ride by there one day and see just how tall they have gotten.

Crepe myrtles are some beautiful trees or bushes, depending on how they are kept trimmed. They are very slow growing though, but last for many years. My grandmother had some in here front yard that were very old. The one that is left, has to be close to, or maybe even over 60 years old.

The crepe myrtle of course! Granny passed about nine years ago and was 92. She did love those crepe myrtles though.

Your crepe myrtle is quite beautiful BTW.  :th_thicon_idea:

The small flower bed in front of the small brick wall, a very nice touch. I like it a lot.  :rocknroll2:
