What's happened to entrepreneurism in America?
« on: June 09, 2020, 11:35:13 AM »
Like most of us, I haven't had a haircut since Christmas. Yesterday, I finally had the time and decided to get a haircut. I don't feel the need for a fancy styling, in fact, I normally get an $8 haircut at the VA. I knew that that wasn't an option so I decided to go local. Well, I quickly learned that Monday is typically a barber holiday. Now on the news, I hear endless stories the plight of barbers due to Covid. Barbers are complaining that  they can't make a living. I drove from Friendswood, to Alvin, to Santa Fe and finally to Bacliff. I probably passed by twenty closed barber shops. In Bacliff I came across a unisex shop that was OPEN. Now this shop was nothing fancy and the price of a haircut was 7 bucks. I walk in and there are about a half dozen Asian ladies cutting hair, all with their licenses displayed. One lady says in broken English. Please sit down and I will cut you next. While I was there the chairs stayed full and customers were coming in and out. My haircut was very good and y tipped her two bucks. I will probably go back for my next haircut. My point is that  while traditional barbers living off their stimulus checks, whining about their plight. These new immigrant women were bringing in cash to their families because they were willing to take a risk and work. WAKE UP AMERICA! Hard work and risk taking are what built this country. They are going to succeed and old-line Americans are going to whine and bitch because Covid ruined their business, the government didn't help them enough and those forieners don't play by the rules.

Mericans dont WANT to work hard.
They WANT the benefits with out the effort.

Reason why so many immigrants are owning/running businesses in US.

They are willing to WORK to better themselves many Americans suffer from entitlement syndrome. Look at all these protesters as an example of ES.

Lotta Mericans wanna work, but find
the deck stacked higher and higher
against them,  and the cards seem
to be dealt in favor of those who could
care less about Merica
There are more and more that care
little or nothing about the longevity
or best interest of the country,  only
what's in it for them right here right
now.  Just me,  but I want people
here that love this country and have
a vested interest in it's success and
not how fast they can bring it down.
There are too many that come to
live in places here that only have
interest in what milk and honey
they can suck up and the hell with
everything and everybody else.
Not that it can be turned back around
to the good in my lifetime,  but we
we shouldn't leave a near 3rd world
crap hole for the younger generations
to deal with

It's a damn shame is what it is. People not willing to break their backs to be a success, deserve to fail.

We don't allow people to fail like
they would have in my parents
time with no gubmint assistance.
You would either work hard and
thrive, or not work and starve.
Sink or swim.
That's how America got to be
so prosperous in the early 20th century

Then this one liberal guy who was POTUS way back when got this hair brained idea it was a GOOD thing for the gubment to prop up the people with these little social programs and 90 or so years later viola here we are.

I started cutting my own hair. I do the sides, my wife completes the back and top. Works OK for the times.

Back to the original topic... I think entrepreneurism  has also been killed off by the "Socialism for the Rich" bailouts. There's nothing worse than propping up weak businesses and not allowing them to fail, not allowing the culling of the herd, the burning up of fuel on the forest floor. and the zero % interest rates. These things just zombify and freeze and economy... witness Japan. For the USA, this started back in 2009, of course. Dems and Republicans both guilty.

Exmaple... I work in oil & gas, and I've been saying for years that Shale was just a Ponzi scheme propped up by low interest rates, and lately everyone sees it, now that everyone is going bust under the stress of low oil prices. The Emperor has had no clothes for a long time... but people just refused to see it. Because "Murica!" or whatever. Pride. Arrogance. No, you cannot go around math and accounting. And the execs got their bonuses and fired all of us serfs! Been fired twice since 2015!

AND the National Debt is going to destroy the currency. Think Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Argentina. When the US Dollar gets replaced as the world reserve currency, it's game over. Done. Cooked.

I just hope my ammo pile doesn't explode like Beirut did yesterday.
