Glock 48 - Yes, what happened to me.
« on: February 27, 2020, 06:07:13 PM »
I know, I know... I am a diehard DA/SA guy... But, since the Glock 48 came out, it has caught my eye. And, I was impressed with the thinner width of the gun every time I held one. After buying that Beretta APX last June, striker fired guns sorta caught my attention again. NO, I haven't lost my mind and given up DA/SA - but, I'm willing to try striker fired guns again...

But, I didn't wanna buy the G48 without trying one first. I've bought too many guns over the years, and then regretted buying the gun after the first range trip... Well, my local range finally got one to rent, and I tried it out on Saturday. I was pretty impressed. I actually sold a gun over the weekend to cover the cost (basically, I broke even - money is tight for me right now, but I could pull that off), and I had the shop order me one.

I wanted one with the Ameriglo night sights, so I had to get one ordered. The night sights are almost identical to what I had installed on my APX.

Anyway, the gun is very accurate. I like the way it shoots, and it fits my hands better than the double stack G19. What I like it that while it is thinner, it's not TOO thin. The Shield and the XDe seem almost TOO thin. But, the width of the G48 fits my hands just perfect/ I only added a Hogue Jr grip to it, because I like rubber grips on most of my guns.

It is the first Glock to get my attention in a long, long time. It shoots very well

Just thinking out loud, cause I certainly am no expert,,
If you think about it. Glock was really, one  the 1st and most popular, striker fired handgun.

I think "glock leg" , was actually a problem prone to striker fired handguns. Not just glock.

But since glock had the lions share of the striker market,,statistically,  they had the most in peoples hands, they got to take the credit.

At one point in my area,, glock was king. Last few years. It's the most common pistol in the used racks. They cant seem to give them away.

I've never owned one, and likely wont. I'm a hammer fired da/sa guy. And I just dont like striker fired, or  polymere pistols.

Their reputation of "running no matter what,", and durability,  cant be denied.

I bought a G48 and shot a few IDPA matches and liked.  I am waiting on Shield S15 mags become available so I can start carry it.  It will replace my current G19.

I wonder if the Glock48 magazines will fit the Glock43.

They fit the 43x

The frame is the same. I don't think they fit the 43, from what I have read

My first handgun ever was a Glock 17 in 1993, when I turned 21.

I had a Glock 26 in 1997, and I carried it for 8 years. I really did not like it, as the backstrap was too short. I put up with it at the time, however, because no other gun had such a rust proof finish. Once I discovered that the P99 had the same finish, I sold the G26 and went to a P99 compact around 2004 or so.

I also owned a Glock 19 around 1996.

But, this single stack Glock fits my hands better than the 19. I have also owned 3 G17s and 2 G34s over the years....

Haha, no. But, I don't know what has come over me. I am super digging this gun. A single stack Glock is awesome for someone with smaller hands. It's really cool.

And, it's not TOO thin, like the Shield and some of the other similar sized guns are.

Now, I'm wanting another Glock - a slightly different model, but another single stack. Damn, I got the fever  :P

I've owned like 38 Berettas (of various types) over 20+ years. I think I'm entitled for something else  :th_thicon_lol:

Pietro Gussalli Beretta, Beretta Holdings CEO just called and said they'd "be sending a representative to deal with the crisis shortly."

I doubt it will ever happen - But as the 48 is basically a single stack Glock 19.... I'd love to see them make a single stack G17 or G34. With the longer grip, they could probably make a 12 round mag. If they ever did that, I'd buy one....
