Finally got my 9mm Shield - Again
« on: January 10, 2020, 10:01:58 PM »
I ordered a 9mm Shield from Palmetto State Armory at the end of last month - They had the gen 1 models for $249.

I used to own 2 Shields when they very first came out - later sold them, but missed having one. It makes a good pocket gun in cargo pants.

Got one again finally  :th_thicon_idea:

I have owned 45s in the past - but the ONLY 45 I care for is a fullsize 1911. The grip on various HK 45s and other models always end up being too big for my hands.

I would not want to shoot a Shield in 45. That would be too much recoil for me in such a small gun. Sorry...

But, I eliminated 45s years ago when ammo prices jumped up so high for a while. They've come down a LITTLE bit since then. But, everything I have is 9mm now.

I have heard many good comments about the 45 Shield, but it's not for me.

Ship
Try one you will be surprised. My shield 40 has snapper recoil than the 45.
I hate my buddies glock G32S in 45.
Way more felt recoil than my shield
Im 59 in 3 months BTW.

If I ever get a chance, I'll try it. But, they only rent the 9mm one here

To those who like them then good for you. I had a S&W M&P shield 9mm. Ordered it. It came with a 40 S&W marking on the slide. Called S&W to tell them. I had to wonder how in the hell did that get through inspection. The barrel was marked 9mm. They had me send it back. Not happy having to do that with a brand new gun. It took them about a month to change out the slide. Got the gun back finally and the magazine release was rusted so bad that it didn't work. Had a guy who wanted to trade me a H&K USP Compact for it. Glad to have gotten rid of that piece of junk. I love the S&W revolvers but will never buy their pistols again.
I have been where you fear to be
I have seen what you fear to see
I have done what you fear to do
All these things I have done for you.

45shield myself.
Also a 40 version
Never a 9mm

As to above humans make errors and guns are made by humans.
Hard to fathom a mag release rusted to the point of non function.
I CC mine daily have worn it in the rain while working out on my property, have sweated all over it as well not a spec of rust evident on it ever.
The one RSA issue I had on my 45 was a simple call to SW provided SN of weapon and recvd replacement in mail 3 days later. Not bad considering I caused it to come apart while cleaning the weapon.

Sorry to hear about your issues.

This is my 3rd Shield (I had 2 previously) that I got in January. They've all worked great.
