I have the worst luck...
« on: September 06, 2019, 01:57:20 PM »
I am stuck on the side of the road with another flat tire... AGAIN. I just had one last week. Ended up having to pay $165 for a new tire because it could not be fixed.

Now, I have another one. Out in the country... Where AAA has a tough time finding someone. I called nearby places, and they cannot help me for 3 or 4 hours.

Finally AAA found someone, but it will be at least 2 more hours. I got stuck in the same place 3 years ago with a flat tire, and I waited almost 3 hours that time...

Man, this sucks.... It is like 100F outside too....

a pisser - 'specially in this heat

don'tcha carry a spare ?  I used to carry 2 spares and it was fortunate because one night while I was attending a Wedding Reception I parked near where about a dozen "bikers" had their bikes parked - they musta thought I was too close 'cause when I was ready to leave, 2 of my tires had been slashed with knives - in the wall of the tire (non-fixable)

I have a spare - but I cannot change it myself with my back and knee problems.

That sucks Ship. My thermometer reads 104 right now. Think how bad it would be if you didn't have a cell. Hope you have it fixed by now.

Yes, it is fixed now. Before it went all the way flat, I hurried up and drove back to the Cooks Point Store. I had just passed it when the light sensor came on. I got out and checked and could hear the air leaking out, so I hurried up and got there before it was all the way flat.

A few years ago, I got stuck 1 mile from Cooks Point with the same problem. Right around 5pm. There was only 1 resource for AAA  from Caldwell, and he would not do it. And, its too far for anyone from Bryan to come.

It was over 100F that day, and I ended up walking to the store because it was taking so long

This time, I managed to get back to the store so I could at least stay in the convenience store with the a/c while I waited.

But, I just dealt with another flat tire at the start of LAST week. This tire looks like it can be fixed, at least. Last week, it could not.

After work, I have to go to Discount Tire and have them fix it

Isn't Cooks Point where the speed limit drops real quick from 70 to 40? Years ago I used to drive 21 all the time and saw many a driver not paying attention get nabbed by DPS  or Burleson County.

I feel for you man.
I caught some kind of flat tire virus years ago:

Had 3 flat tires and 2 stem valves go bad one at a time all with a 1 years period.
Ever since, I've swapped out every emergency tire with a real one in all vehicles.
Also have a air pump, pressure gauge, extra stem valves, stem valve wrench, stem caps and
tire plugging kit in all vehicles.

Was good medicine!  Have never had a flat since!

my '93 BMW 850 had "run flat" tires - never did trust having no spare

drove the car to the upper west coast and back but before heading out I did buy a relatively inexpensive wheel and put one of the tires (from the extra set that I had in my garage) on and carried it in the trunk - sold the wheel when I returned home (also bought a floor jack and carried it in the trunk - returned it, unused)

run flats was not a confidence builder for me
