Too much caffeine and getting up late will do it to you.

Took a cat nap around 9 when my brother in law came over. Only time we hear from him is when he needs food, money or something in his world screwed up. AC out in his trailer tonight. Wife listened to his tale of woe gave him $20 and some food. He left happy. Working on a better half of a bottle of bourbon now and watching a movie.

The guy is 63 years old and still lives in the 70's. My wife's only brother so what are you going to do. He's a good person just made dumb ass life decisions. Watching Dirty Harry. Bank scene is coming up.

guess I'm lucky ( ? ).....almost without exception I've "retired" for the day before 7pm, but, almost without exception, I'm drinking my morning coffee well before daylight

Two beers last night and listening to a classic country radio station and I was toast by 2 am!

Don't even really remember what time I crawled into bed last night, or this morning.

I used to be a go to bed at 10:30 up at 6 type person but that changed a year or so ago. My 20 year old granddaughter, and her friends, just love my wife and two or three of them are always around. They all are full time students with full time jobs so they show up at odd hours as does my 17 year old grandson, with a buddy or two in tow, and my wife's brother. Wife keeps a box freezer filled with pizza rolls, pizza and ice cream and a kitchen closet has cereal, chips and dip and boxes of mac n cheese.
Papa tried to put a 10 PM cut off time for visitors but my wife nixed that idea. Of course the motion alarm for my outside security cameras goes off as do my two dogs when someone shows up and ain't nobody sleeping through that.
So they swarm in like locus and devour what's on hand and leave or retire to one of the back bedrooms where my wife and visitors will cluck like a bunch of hens until 2-3 AM. while I sit in the living room with the two dogs drowning my sorrows. One benefit is my wife has taken over my role as breakfast chef and takes orders from anyone in the house. Usually pancakes, eggs and bacon. So that gives me time to read the news and post things like this.

Many times my night time hours are from so many years of working night shifts for various companies. To some extent, I have been a night time type person. Couple that with some issues of insomnia, of being able to sleep for just a couple of hours and then have to have something to do. I liked working night shifts, and most people didn't. In most companies, working night shift, or third shift usually was a bonus in your wages, plus many times things are much less hectic and much more laid back on third shift or at night in most companies. I was able to get more done with less distractions.

So even after retiring, some habits are just harder to get rid of, and there are many times I am either out in the garage working on something, or posting on some forum. I very seldom drink alcohol any more, and many times in the past, a couple of beers was the medicine I used to wind down and relax so I could grab a couple restful hours of sleep.

For many years, many people couldn't understand ny levels of energy and how come I was always working, or doing things. My answer? I use to tell people, "I'll get all the sleep I'll need when they bury me!"
