..bye bye Columbus Day..
« on: April 20, 2019, 03:29:28 PM »

Columbus day actually means zero to me (other than no mail delivery ) but damn people......maybe we should consider "abolishing" Vermont

headline :  "Vermont passes bill abolishing Columbus Day in favor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day"

while mowing one of the Pastures today I felt bad about also mowing some scattered Wild Flowers - hated taking down Blue Bonnets along with a lot of Indigenous People's Paintbrush (nee :  Indian Paintbrush - gotta call em that now else be labeled a non-PC racist)

our world just keeps getting more and more obnoxious because of crap like the above

As a native of Vermont (Texas since 76) I must say the state has gone wacko recently. Never used to be so politically goofy however always has had its element of strange folks.

My solution would be pretty simple.  If they want to get rid of the paid holiday,, great. NOBODY in that state gets PAID for that holiday anymore, and they dont get the day off either. .

See how long it takes to stop that nonsense.
Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often, and for the same reason.

There are two kinds of people in the world my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. YOU DIG.  " Blondie".

Well, any man that wouldnt cheat at cards for a poke, dont want one bad enough. " Gus".

I love to be non-PC, so may I? If you get upset just open the freezer before you melt snowflake!

To be historically correct the so-called indigenous people of the America’s were also explorers but from Northern China/Mongolian region of Asia.

To be really non-PC, someone should blame the ‘natives for walking the land bridge during the last ice age’ I mean if they never showed up, they would never have died by the Europeans.

The PC idea that life in the Americans was full of peaceful and loving natives and that they all died because the white devil Europeans is an out right lie.
"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

When you retire, paid holidays just don't seem to matter anymore. Actually, for most intents, it's more of PITA kind of thing for retired people!  :wave1:

Well the vikings were here long before Columbus was and they actually set foot in north America.  Perhaps it should be changed to Lief Erickson day

It’s amazing how upset some of the Europeans get when you remind them America didn’t need discovering, many of our ancestors were already here.

Christopher Colombus, in 4 trips across the Atlantic, never set foot on the North American Continent.  I don't have any issues with renaming the holiday - as long as it remains federal holiday!  He's not what I would consider to be heroic.

The native Americans were here long before Leif... They didn't need to be "discovered".

The  PC idea of anything is usually just wrong and pigheaded.
A well balanced breakfast, being necessary to the health of the nation, the right of the people to keep an eat cereal shall not be infringed.  Now who gets the ceral, the breakfast or the people?
Sure I'll shoot your Glock.  Just hang it with the rest of the targets.
