Well, originally for tonight we had planned on some hot wings, tater tots, and ranch style beans for dinner. Well, about 4 pm the power shut off about the time it started to rain. So, the wife treated me to dinner at Sonic tonight and we are planning on doing the hot wings tomorrow night instead. Power came back on about 8 pm.

been (another) rough day - having a lot of tree work done (since a storm took a beautiful old Oak and one of our two Pecan trees took a lightning strike - hurting it so bad that it had to come down  :th_thicon_cry:)

the "stump grinder" guy was here today, grinding away on the stump of a smaller tree when he hit a water line - damn !  -  have to call the City 'cause I don't have "the tool" to turn off these new meters.....then had to call our "sprinkler guy" to come out and do the "fix" (in a spot that I couldn't get to but he could) - so, helped him and now have the water back on

 :frown:

but finished now and after a cool-down swim in the cement pond I've made up some of my really really good Teriyaki Sauce and have a 1/2 lb Burger marinating in it as I type

will have the Burger on a fresh bought oversized Burger Bun (w/lettuce, tomato, cheese. bacon) and a helping of Macaroni Salad along side

(phew.....I'm tired) (and hungry)

If it's salvageable you should have a table or two made from that big oak.  :th_thicon_idea:

My hot wings turned out pretty danged good the other night.  :rocknroll2:

Tonight, chili-cheese burritos with homemade salsa on them.  :wave1:

I'm doing burgers, hot links, smoked sausages, hot dogs and chicken leg quarters Thursday for the 4th. Might even invest in a six-pack of Shiner Bocks!

Still eating what I grilled July the 4th! But it sure is good!  :rocknroll2:

Made myself a "monster" burger earlier today for dinner. Stacked it with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cheese, bacon and onions. Stood about 4" tall! Made some home made french fries to go with it along with some pickled cucumbers I put up on jars.

the only somewhat local upscale restaurant (read = overpriced for whatcha get) has an appetizer that I've ordered a number of times - it's Calamari ringlets, fried and placed atop a bed of mixed greens - then they drizzle a Sweet Chili Sauce over - it's good unless they over-do the Sauce.....I order that as a Salad to go with whatever entre I have

well tonight I'm gonna make my own version of the same - 'cept I've got a dozen LARGE Shrimp defrosting which I'm going to lightly sauté in Butter and Garlic (instead of Calamari, which I do have in the freezer) - and I've got a bottle of Panda Express Chinese Kitchen's Sweet Chili Sauce that I'll use for the dressing

by the way, was at WalMart today (buying the mixed Greens) and they have 1st-of-the-season (for here) Bing/Black Sweet Cherries and they are on sale for under $2 per lb.....I love those tasty things so I picked up 5 lbs and have 'em sitting in water, as I type

Son's 45th birthday today. He wants hot wings with blue cheese from Wings n More. I ordered their fried catfish n shrimp plate with a side of onion rings.

well I've gotta say that I am "the recipe embellishing, recipe stealing" man.....made the Shrimp Salad w/Sweet Hot Chili Sauce dressing and it came out oh so much better than what the restaurant puts out (pan sautéed Shrimp in Garlic vs deep fried, breaded Calamari)

used the Chili Sauce sparingly and added sliced English Cucumber - might add some "other stuff" next time I make this (which'll be soon)

wasn't stingy tho - I cooked a Salmon steak and split that up amongst my 4 Dogs for their dinner (added to their already-cooked Turkey meat..)

liked this so mucho that I had it again, tonight, for dinner - but this time I used about 3 dozen Shrimp ('cause I made enough for my Wife to have)

Wife however is still on her diet (good Girl, Honey) so she isn't using the Sweet Chili Sauce (that I really am liking) - after I moved 1/2 the Shrimp to each of our plates (full of seasonal leafy stuff) and spooned some of the Garlic/Butter over my plate she squeezed 1/2 a Lemon into the remaining Garlic/Butter and used that for her "dressing"

this is rapidly becoming one of my favorite meals - lovin' it

(next I think I'll move on to chinamanfood - just have to decide which of the couple of recipes to use (have a Beef/Oyster Sauce that goes good with Shrimp in a sauce (mainly Catsup and Garlic in that recipe) - then some sort of tricked-up chinaman fried rice

more good stuff comin' my way....

Maybe fajitas tonight. Got some boneless chicken breasts I might grille for them. Still undecided as of yet. Maybe another beer will help me decide!  :rocknroll2:
