I find myself watching YouTube videos far more than I ever do the TV.

Channels like MinuteEarth, Today I found Out, SciShow, Forgotten Weapons, etc. etc. etc.

About the only TV shows I'll watch that currently run are shows like Forensic Files, COPS, The First 48, and to a limited extent, Live PD. I don't like any documentaries on TV because these days they usually spend about 30 minutes showing you the same recycled 12 second long crappy CGI animations while playing them up like Michael Bay spot pieces, then cutting to commercial as soon as things progress somewhat. It's like Clickbait for TV, and highly annoying.

The Rockford Files was pretty good too -- every so often I'll watch one of those again.

I watched the first three episodes of the new series on the Paramount Channel, "Yellowstone" with Kevin Costner. I was very impressed. It was pretty danged good so far.

It's the only series or TV show that I've watched in years and it gets better. Kind of like the Godfather with a cowboy/western slant. New season starts in June. Can't wait.

That is a pretty apt description of the program! Like I said, I was impressed with it. I had seen the previews for it, so I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did.

Does anyone else watch the series, "Outlander" on Starz or NetFlix? The wife got to watching a couple of weeks ago, and now she has me hooked on watching it. It's pretty danged good too.  :wave1:

While I think most of the billions of videos on YouTube are crappp, (particularly political, 'first amendment checks' and most any video where one person is talking for more than 3 minutes) there is some incredible, high quality (and low budget) videos that are thoroughly entertaining by some very talented people.

The trick is to find the good ones, as some of them have figured out how to manipulate the rating system.

I loved Longmire! I haven't seen any plans for them bringing it back. They left it off that I think Walt was going to retire, and his daughter was going to run for the position of sheriff. Great show.

Country Music Television (CMT) and Paramount Network both at 9PM 6/19. I believe you can find the first season on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

but in the meantime my Dish is showing that I do get CMT (so would I get their programming without further cost ?) but pray tell, how does Amazon Prime and Netflix "work" (see, told ya, I'm a neophyte when it comes to this tv stuff)

Your good to go on CMT. My Dish network has a Netflix access channel on channel 302.  I just checked. It's not on Netflix. If you have netflix on Dish you can scroll around with the up/down/left/right arrows by the select button. Once on scroll to the top for the search option and exit button. Scroll down and you see all the programs and movies. You'll probably find something you like.

yes I do have the CMT channel - also Netflix capability (and Netflix is offering a 30 day "free" look-see)

but.....when I search for "Yellowstone" it's only listed "On Demand" and then tells "how to upgrade your subscription" - so I'm thinking it's not gonna be shown on MY CMT channel (else it would be shown after a search) and the only way for me to get it is via a subscription upgrade - hmmmmm

I guess it depends on what Dish package you have. I have one of their top tier bundles with all the baseball and college conference channels so I get about everything but one or two of the movie channels,
Do you have Ch. 241 The Paramount Network? Your good to go for Yellowstone if you do.

spot on Alte - yes I do have 241, the Paramount Network - didn't know "what I have".....

and, ironically, when I checked to see if I do have 241, they were advertising "Yellowstone, season 2"

thank you, kind Sir (I've got the 19th earmarked for that program to be recorded - I don't stay up that late  :icon_wink:)

We also record all programs that have commercials. Fast forward is my friend. I was hoping that Paramount would replay the first season prior to the second but I went through their on line guide for the next ten days and that's a no go. I see the first program is about ten minutes longer than usual.  Probably will do a recap of the first season.

Tango, you might also check out the INSP Channel. I think you said you liked older westerns, and if so, it would be right up your alley. The wife and I both watch it and like it.

don't believe it was me that said I liked old Westerns - unless it's something like Lonesome Dove, Quigley Down Under, or Dancing With Wolves - no on most of the other stuff

but thanks for the thought
