TV Worth Watching?
« on: March 26, 2019, 09:54:23 AM »
Seems like the more channels I have to watch, the less it seems that is worth watching anymore. I tend to gravitate more towards NetFlix and Hulu, and our FireStick TV than anything else. Baseball is the only sport I care to watch on TV anymore.

We get 'a bunch' of channels.  But overwhelming it'sAmerican Heroes Channel, Discovery, National Geographic, TCM, Fox Business News and a few others that are pretty good.

I periodically get one or more of the "premium" channels (by bitching to the provider, Dish) and when I do I record any of the movies that look interesting - to be view at my leisure

then too I record past episodes of Last Man Standing and The Big Bang Theory - same thing, I watch them when I've nothing else to do

interested in the local news and some of the network "foreign" news - the "fake news" however makes me wanna barf so it "mute button time" when that crap comes on

have recorded some of TCM 's things (watched one yesterday)

Gun Stories with Joe Montagne (spelling) is good but nothing new lately

no sports (except the Pebble Beach pro tournament) and I watch that only to look at the property and the beautiful Pacific Ocean (plus I played those courses and have fond memories of staying there)

I watch every Flyers game - I pay for the package to see their hockey games.

I also like The Rookie, NCIS New Orleans, Live PD, Agents of Shield and the HGTV channel. That is about all I watch.

Right now, I'm binge watching a NetFlix Original series, Ozark. Pretty good program.

My son is an LEO so he likes the cop reality shows, Live PD, Cops, Body Camera, so I record them and when he comes over, which is three or four times a week, we watch those.
I usually don't turn the television on until 5 PM. Then my wife and I watch Fox News, eat supper with Lou Dobbs in the background and finish it up with Tucker Carlson.
After 8 I'm usually on the laptop but have a ballgame or a movie on. I really don't have any one show I watch although I really liked the 1st season of Yellowstone with Kevin Costner last year and am looking forward to the new season this summer.

my Wife is a Fox (news junkie, that is..)  that's about the only thing she watches - in fact she named one of our rescue Dogs "Tucker"

I absolutely hate the liberal news but I don't appreciate the same-thing-over-and-over stuff that Fox puts out either

I don't watch a lot of TV , once in a while NCIS ,HGTV fixer upper.
There was a good series a while back called The Last Ship that I never missed.
My wife likes all the weird shows like Walking Dead, Super Natural and the like. :th_thicon_lol:
I am ether on my talk sites or reading good books as I have a ton of authors I like.

We watch a few of the Primetime shows, but more and more we are watching Amazon Prime TV. As for news OAN in the morning and BBC and NBC in the evening. Two liberal shows and a conservative. Not a great balance, but better than FOX.

Randy
Do yourself a favor, find America One News Network (OANN) on your cable carrier. 208 on Uverse. News without the Network BS or bias

My wife has been b#tching about the cable bill for 2 years. Thats the ONE bill in the house SHE pays. It was $215 poer month for 300 channels of GARBAGE.
Ive been telling her for 2 years to TURN IT OFF.

I dont watch enough TV to make any difference.

In the end, she kept the internet, got a better internet package, and shut the TV off.
A $50 digital antenna from amazon gets about 16 channels,, including Fox, which, I stopped watching anyway.
You can turn fox on in the morning, watch it for 30 minutes, and you just seen the same thing they will play ALL day.
The "other" so called news channels,, theyre still saying the same shit they were harping on 6 months afgo. So no need to even turn them on.

In truth, for about the past 2 weeks, I turned GRIT channel on, all old westerns,, and leave it run 24/7.  The dogs like the noise and it seems to really keep them calm when we are not home.
And with summer on the horizon,, I keep spending more and more time outside.

Its been a long cold winter here in PA. The snow just melted last week. And its supposed to be 50's this next week, with 60's the following week.
I plan to go clean up and whip my at home pistol range into shape this week. I got some shooting to git caught up on. :th_thicon_idea:

The hell with the tv.  :th_thicon_funny: I dont miss it one bit.  :wave1:

Not for sure, but I think DCD is talking about the Amazon Fire Stick TV. We got this one lat last year to replace our satellite TV service. We had Dish for over 13 years, and the bill kept getting higher and higher with no change in our subscription.

We also went to using HughesNet satellite internet as a change to land-based landline and DSL service. Not as fast, but sure is way much cheaper per month.

TXAZ,

About 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh,PA.
My home is almost on top of a mountain, known as the great divide,  on the western slopes of the Appalachians.
We set at about 1400 feet with everything west of us getting lower.

Axxe,,
Its just a digital antenna pulling to old fashined radio waves outta the air.

Watched the NetFlix movie the other night, "The Highwaymen". It was pretty good. About Frank Hamer and how he got Bonnie and Clyde.

After about four months now with our Amazon Fire Stick TV, I'm really liking it. I have found lots of documentories  to watch that I enjoy watching and learning from.

I do rather like this Live PD show.

Good laughs from the idiots they encounter sometimes.
