Lots of .308 options.  What's the budget?

Of course it all depends on your (her) budget and what you want it for. Hunting? Competition/Target shooting?

Bolt action: Remington 700. Son has one and it's just a great rifle. Maybe a little stout for someone not used to it.

Semi Auto: There are several decent AR 15 type .308's on the market. Aero Percision, Daniel Defense, Palmetto State Armory are just a few.

I've read that the Ruger American Predator is a decent bang for the buck but have no hands on experience with that model.

Bolt action . her budget is under 500. She has shot Remy 783 . and a Mossberg ( did not like). She is rough on guns. 4 wheeler,  buggies. Truck gun . she leaning toward savage .

Savage stepped up their game a few years back on quality. I have a model 10xp in 223 thats a long range tack driver.

But the cheaper model savages  sounds like that would be good if she uses them hard and puts em away wet.  :th_thicon_idea: Seems to me you can get one NIB  with a scope for about $300.

I would buy a CZ for myself, absolute tack drivers with excellent quality,, but not for a beater.

If I was buying a hard use truck (hunting) gun right now, I'd likely go with a Ruger American such as:

...... She needs to go out to a rifle range and talk to the rifle shooters there.  The 'first hand proof in the pudding' test is about as good as it gets, and it gets personal buy-in.

Savage or the REM both guns are very accurate and do NOT cost you an arm and a leg Good Luck They are guns that you hunt with and not afraid to shin up

Savage Axis or the Ruger American might be some to give consideration.
