Amazon and OAC
« on: February 15, 2019, 08:08:30 PM »
For the past two nights I have been hearing from Lester Holt and other liberal news people drone on about Amazon's decision to not build the second headquarters in NYC is a huge loss for Amazon and a big win for the Progressives. In what universe can it be a win to lose billions of taxable dollars a year ,good for any district. So what is the down side for Amazon, they will just do their business in cities all over the US? What do they lose, the opportunity to have a presence in NYC? OAC is bragging to anyone who will listen that she is responsible for Amazon not moving in. Hell, any other politician that lost that kind of money for her district would have been ridden out on a rail. Am I missing something?

Yes you are missing that these people do not understand history, anthropology, or economics but think all of their narcissistic ideas are better than anyone’s else’s. Just me, I see it everyday. I teach high school and most get butt hurt from the smallest amount of criticism. But the good news is that it’s not all the young ones, some are beginning to see the light of the American dream and how the free market economy that we still have is far better than a command economy of socialists or communist nations.
"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
- Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

Not missing a thing. The millennial communist thought that the 3 billion tax beak Amazon was given was actual money NYC already had that she could use to fund her socialist agenda. She was to ignorant to realize   that the 3 billion tax break was to be given AFTER Amazon had provided 25 thousands jobs in her district and paid 29 Billion in state and city taxes.
Any politician wold be more than happy to clam that they helped bring 25,000 jobs into their district. And she has an economics degree from a prestigious college in Massachusetts?  I ain't buying that.

It’s not what AMAZON is bringing to NY, it’s that AOC doesn’t want Bezos & Amazon to win.

This is the gist of most of their arguments according to a left wing Austin neighborhood activist:

Vote / campaign against things, not for things.
It gives you more leeway in a debate and hard for the other ide to pin you down.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/voters-are-souring-on-medicare-for-all-180225270.html

Meanwhile, speaking of California and its new 'jewel', Kamala Harris:

Quote from: Rick Newman, Yahoo Finance
If somebody offered you a sandwich for free, you’d probably take it. $10? You might take it, if it was really good. $30? No thanks.

Voters are beginning to do similar cost-benefit analysis on Medicare for all, the Democratic plan for universal health care that’s sure to be a top campaign issue in 2020. In a January Morning Consult poll, 56% of respondents said they support Medicare for all, while 29% opposed it. Less than a month later, support fell to 50% while opposition rose to 38%.

The only thing that changed? People began to get a better understanding of what Medicare for all actually is—including the need to eliminate the private insurance system.

Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris, who’s running for president, triggered this deeper level of analysis on January 29, when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked her if she favored getting rid of private insurance. “Let’s eliminate all that,” Harris said. “We need to have Medicare for all.”

‘If you like your health care plan, you can keep it’

Americans feel no special love for insurance companies, but they’re not eager to give up what they’re familiar with, either. About 156 million Americans—nearly half the population—get health care coverage through their employer. Another 21 million buy their own insurance in the private market. So Medicare for all would move 177 million Americans from a health care system that generally works into a government-run system that has never covered that many people.

[ . . . . ]

This shooting themselves in the foot with increasingly crazy political fringe antics needs to continue -- they'll be giving two idiots one window to lick knocking out two birds with one stone... The currently under-informed portion of the American people will laugh crazy Bernie right back out of Washington again if/when they finally realize where his "free" everything's gonna come from.

Bezos made the decision for one reason only IMO.

As a slap in the face to all the politicians who freaked out when he stated he would run as an independent. Me thinks he shut it down as an “Ill show you” move.

I’d love to see a legit multi-party system in the US.
A lot of the political dirty tricks would come to light.

Alot of these politicians are really only running for the FREE handouts and possible payoff at the end.

Bernie ran, was payed off with a new home to step back and give it to hilly.

Plus ANY campaign funds/donations, are totally tax free after 1 year.
So its a helluva payday in the end.
Thats all these turds are really looking for.

Why do we continually see people like bernie, romney and mccain running when they OBVIOUSLY DONT really want to win.

It all about the  money.
