just "came up" to post best wishes and happy T Day to the forum members (but ya beat me to it)

I'll be doing the cooking (as always) - 9lb Butterball Turkey Breast, Smashed Taters, Dressing, Greenbean Casserole, Giblet Gravy (but, dagnabit, forgot to plan for my really good Corn Souffle )  oh, and homemade Cranberry Sauce  :th_thicon_idea:

Wife and I will probably get in some bad-board fence replacements while the Bird is cooking - work on the "ranch" is never ending

yes, stay safe and enjoy time with the Family

Just the wife and I for Thanksgiving this year. Son and his family will be heading to his in laws place in Hilltop Lakes tomorrow after my grandson finishes with football practice. A&M Consolidated is in the second round of playoffs. You know your having a good season when you have to practice on Thanksgiving. Game is in Conroe Friday evening.
They will be here for Christmas though and we will reverse it next year. Everybody eat well, rest and make merry.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  :wave1:

Just spent about 3 hours with the wife in the kitchen.
We just popped a 22 lb butterball bird into the slow cooker with homemade stuffin.. Be done about 9 am tomorrow.
Do the mashed taters, turkey gravey, & yams in the mornin.
I already baked a couple pumpkin pies, just took em out a few minutes ago. So the jury is still out on whether they may or may NOT be edible.  :P

I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY.  :thumbsup1:

I used to enjoy a slice of Pumpkin Pie, once in a while.....that is until I had my 1st taste of Sweet 'Tater Pie, which I much prefer (and haven't eaten any Pumpkin since.....)  :th_thicon_idea:

My wife makes both plus pecan pie and I usually have a modest slice of each. That's what I tell my self anyway but if the truth be known I am a pig :icon_redface:

for some reason I've never cared for Pecan Pie (?) - and we've got 2 huge, super producing Pecan trees here on the new property (matter of fact I've got a burn fire going right now - chain-sawed a large broken branch and gettin' rid of it and some of the UV'd/rotten fence top boards that we've been replacing

Turkey, however, is in the oven and I've already cooked Sweet Onion Souffle and the Green Bean Casserole - still have the Dressing and the Smashed Taters to go

Isn’t that a crime in East Texas?

the Horses wouldn't like tripping over broken branches and we're "cleaning up" their pasture to make their home a safe one

and

when I cook, I don't grill or smoke the food - so, burn baby, burn
