Chambering a .300 BO in a 5.56- really?
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:50:53 AM »
Read on another forum some guy chambered and fired a .300 Blackout in his 5.56 rifle.  NO pictures were supplied.
I don't have either but wonder if that's actually possible?

I don't think it will chamber in tact.  But the 300 case is part of the 556 case so we know the case will fit.  I can only imagine that 1. it was a very light powder charge which 2. allowed the bullet to set waaay back while the case moved into the chamber.  The bullet ain't getting to or past the lands with human or spring power.

Ive heard of others doing this too so I have to assume at tolerance extremes it is possible.
