Yesterday I read the original, rather long article those quotes came from.  I don’t know what Fox’s motivation is for isolating those two particular quotes to use in their headline, but they clearly don’t convey Soros’ overall political opinion and world view.  [Fox ‘cherry picked’ what to quote?.... tell me it ain’t so].

The article was written by Michael Steinberger for the NY Times.  It was an overall sympathetic piece toward Soros.  He has apparently “interviewed” Soros previously and is a journalist “news reporter” that Soros feels comfortable with and trusts Steinberger to present him [Soros] in a positive light.  So Soros allows him access.

For instance the quote about Obama is completely taken out of context.  First, what Soros said is, he wasn’t disappointed in Obama’s presidency.  What he was disappointed in was, Obama didn’t call him and seek advice  as to how to handle the economy.  Soros didn’t want a cabinet appointment, but he was disappointed Obama didn’t use him as a ‘behind the scenes’ advisor.  Soros even bragged about how he turned a scheduled five minute ‘thank you’ call for his monetary donation into an eight minute call.  (I would invite anyone to read the article and verify the true context of Soros’ quote).

The second quote has more to do with Soros’ rejection of “labels” in general  (since labels can be twisted and given different meanings).  But it doesn’t reflect the political philosophy he follows called, ‘liberal democracy’ by his professor/mentor (Karl Popper).  It’s this Liberal Democracy that led Soros to create his ‘Open Society Foundation’.  (“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” to quote Shakespeare).  In American labels, there can be no doubt, Soros is a Democrat (regardless of whatever twist or spin he wants to put on it).

Here’s the link to the original article Fox took their quotes from.

Among other things, the piece was conveying Soros’ dismay that, after all the money he has spent in trying to “get societies to open up” and become more receptive and accepting of external influences, many are reverting back to their old ways (i.e., nationalism and patriotic feelings, etc.).  He’s disappointed he hasn’t been as successful in political matters as he was with financial matters.  (Thank God, IMHO)

Im still trying to figure out if he was a communist, socialist,  nazi sympathizer, or ALL of the above.
Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often, and for the same reason.

There are two kinds of people in the world my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. YOU DIG.  " Blondie".

Well, any man that wouldnt cheat at cards for a poke, dont want one bad enough. " Gus".
