Storing magazines in a safe...got a better way?
« on: November 05, 2017, 08:28:01 AM »
I need to find a better way to store 9mm magazines in the safe.  Layed on a shelf they take a lot of space.  Benchmaster makes a holder for 12 but its $25.  Seems like there ought to be a very inexpensive way to store them using an ammo holder where each cell was wide enough and deep enough to hold 1 magazine vertically.
Any ideas?   A link to the benchmaster product follows.

Here's what I ended up building based on another's suggestion:

Two 18" Harbor Freight strip magnets mounted on two L brackets on a 1/4" plywood base.

Works pretty good and saves me half the space.

I take the less fancy route and place mine in plastic Sterilite pencil boxes available at Wal-Mart. They are translucent and have a snap-on lid with a rear hinge. They were priced at 25 cents each on clearance after school began. They also are handy to transport magazines to the range.

I keep my pistol and rifle mags in standard military ammo cans. The 7.62 cans are small and take up little space in my safe for storage of 20+ pistol mags. I use the 50 cal can for rifle (AK/M4).

I use Liberty magnetic magazine mounts.

But then, I also do not keep 20 loaded magazines in my safe. :)

Ammo can. Just stack them. They dont need their own slot.  Then when you need them just grab the can.
