KNIFE LAW IMPROVEMENTS COMING 9/1/17

"Legalize the Bowie Knife"

HB1935 by Representative John Frullo/Senator John Whitmire eliminates daggers, dirks, stilettos, poniards, swords, spears, and Bowie knives from Texas law, allowing them to be carried in Texas. Governor Abbott signed (6/15/2017)  Effective Date 9/1/2017

Just make sure you are aware of the "location restricted" portion of the law:

Quote
a minor amendment was added to stipulate that knives with blades over 5 1/2 inches are now defined as “location restricted” knives. These knives may be carried throughout the state except in a narrow list of places such as schools, colleges, correctional facilities, houses of worship, and bars that derive more than 51% of their income from alcohol sales. Minors are also restricted as to when they can carry these knives.

Jim Bowie, born in Kentucky, lived most of his life in Louisiana, moved to Tejas and married a Mexican woman, became a Mexican citizen, lived in Tejas for about 6 years (about 1/6 of his life), died in bed.....just sayin'
