Yes, Boomer's training says just shoot the bad guys when they close to 1,000 yards, or fire one next to their ears.

Here's one with live ammo used. Not a disarm, just an example that action beats reaction. This is, of course, not for the feint of heart or the novice. Not recommended anyone be trying that anytime soon, perhaps ever unless their life hangs in the balance. But then may not be the time to find out one's real limitations.

So I've been away from here a long time, have been working on and earned my black belt in Aikido (!!!) AND I WOULD NOT TRY TO DISARM A MAN WITH A GUN unless there was no other choice (like he just shot someone and I'm next).

It looks cool in movies and on TV, but probably not so much in real life situations.

Unless I was down to nothing else, and I was in dire danger of dying, nope.
