The OFFICIAL CZ Thread!
« on: May 13, 2011, 09:01:51 AM »
Now that we have no "Groups" anymore, I thought I'd start these threads... Previously, there was a "group" for each manufacturer... One could talk about that brand and/or post pics.

Anyway, if ya got a CZ handgun and are proud of it, this is the place to do a yee haw or post up a pic or whatever!

A long time ago, I read about the CZ75 in Shotgun News and was intrigued. I bought the first CZ that I ever laid eyes on in 1982 and still own it today. I did retire the model 75 in favor of the model 85 in '92 and one of the two accompanied me everyday until I retired from a local police department in 2005.

I never found any weapon with the same point-ability and feel of a CZ ......and I still shoot them often today.
I'm retired and bored, so pay attention when I say....

Out of all the handguns I have owned (50+ since 1993).. I've never bought a CZ or a SIg. I've tried to like them, but just could never dig 'em.

The full railed dustcover model of the CZ75 is probably the CZ that has had me seriously consider getting one at one point. But, I've just never really gotten into the looks of a CZ in general.

For a very short time I owned a Browning Hi-Power and thought it felt really natural to point until I picked up the CZ 75. The fact that it was double action but could also be carried cocked and locked won me over.

I recently put a new hammer, sear, disconnector and all springs in the model 85 because the 'smith at CZ USA said I slap wore it out. It served me well .....but its life is not over because Zombies cometh!

My CZ 82:
Just picked it up from FFL dealer today so I haven't taken it to the range yet but it feels really nice and the trigger is much smoother than I anticipated.

Thanks, it was the first picture I've ever upload to a message board so lesson learned.

My thoughts exactly.  I have shot quite a lot of handguns, and none have had the natural feeling that a CZ has for me.  Here is my old trusty, would not get rid of her for any other gun.

She might be a bit dirty, but that's cause she gets used.  And loved.

Just another run-of-the-mill surplus CZ-82, though my hat's off for the discreet import markings.

I was wondering has anyone here shot or owned the CZ 75 Champion? I'm trying to decided the next gun I want to buy and this one keeps catching my eye.

3rdman,

Do you have any problems with the grip screws loosening after use?

We own a CZ P-01.  9mm. It is a rather unattractive green, but we don't care.  It is a great shooter and the feel in the hand is the best we have experienced.

We also own a CZ-97.  45ACP.  This pistol also feels super in the hand and is an excellent shooter.  Alas, it is entirely too large and heavy for us to hide on our (somewhat small) person conveniently.

Brother owns a 75B.  Same great ergos and very accurate.

We think CZ's are hard to beat.  They were even harder to beat a few years ago before they got expensive.

We trudge on.

Things have gotten kinda quiet here . . .

When I was in the market fora high-cap 9mm, the CZ75 was at the top of my list. It got rave reviews and just looked cool.  Well, as luck would have it -- or not? -- I was at a gun show and came across a Tanfoglio TA-90, which is a clone of the CZ75, and the forerunner of the EAA Witness pistols (Tanfoglio makes  the EAA Witness guns). It was being offered at an attractive price, so I went for it.

The TA-90 is a good, solid shooter. It eats pretty much any sort of ammo I scrounge up to feed it, and doesn't complain. It's accurate. At least it is after the first shot unless I've cocked the hammer. (DA on the first shot, SA on the remainders)

My biggest gripe is the DA trigger pull, which feels like it's about 12 pounds.  Its SA pull is considerably lighter and bearable.  Still, as decent as it is, I still want to get a CZ75 one day.
Best,
Michael

I currently own 4 CZ's

My newest is a CZ P09 Duty 5" in 9mm

My CZ P07 Duty in 9mm

My CZ 85 Combat 9mm

My CZ 75 Compact

CZ's are great guns and generally under rated IMHO

I saw them a lot 2-3 years ago. Haven't seen them since...
