Smokewagon,

That's exactly TWO more than I've seen in Bexar County since nightfall on 01JAN16.
(Even I carried openly that day.)

Beat me to it.

OTOH, the Cowboys make it harder every year to be a fan.

And Dez Bryant caught the ball!

With my retirement job I travel all over the state of Texas maybe twice a week. So far, I've seen ONE guy open carrying in Madisonville at a gas station.

Sure must be embarrassing for those that predicted the doom and gloom scenarios.
I'm retired and bored, so pay attention when I say....

It wasn't an honest prediction, it was an overt scare campaign designed to terrify the masses as a way of legitimately keeping it from happening. Most of the ones pushing the hardest probably have no shame.

Of course they have no shame or regrets,
they believe they are more "enlightened" than the rest of us.......

To All,

Fwiw,

While in my hometown on Tuesday afternoon, I saw a young woman (perhaps 25YO) in western shirt, jeans, boots & wearing a Model 10 in a OTB holster getting out of a PU next to my car at the Pic-N-Pay grocery.

She saw me looking at her revolver & said, "It was my Daddy's old .38 & I carry it every day on our farm." - That was the SOLE person that I've seen carrying openly in months, other than uniformed LEO/security guards.

Okay it's the nearing the end of the year here in the 7th largest city in America, and I finally got to see somebody OC.

I was on my way to a metal concert and spotted this black guy with a Sig P226 in a thigh holster. He seemed suspicious of me when I first asked him if he OC'd and then relaxed when I turned out not to be another political heckler, which he said he's gotten a lot of. We both shared a laugh over the fact that friggin' World War 407 did not smite us all and reduce the state into a pockmarked wasteland as the doomsayers predicted would happen if Texas legalized OC.

Seemed chill; kinda wish my stop had been further away than it was to see what he made of the election and everything else.

I think I've seen 2 people doing it the entire year.

I keep saying I'm gonna try it once, but I never do. I go too many places that have the 30.07 sign. So, I never bother

Shipwreck,

Oddly enough, just yesterday (at a combination TP/self-defense class/shooting session/BBQ that I attended), a lady "of a certain age" got out of her Chevy PU wearing an "obviously old" gun-belt & S&W handgun.

The revolver/belt & holster was a Model 1917 S&W "New Service Commercial" W/4 inch barrel, in .45 Auto Rim that belonged to her father, when he was a TX sheriff in the 1920-30s. - The lady said that she often carries "Daddy's gun" when she is "out at the farm".
She chuckled & said, "I don't often carry if off the farm, as everybody wants me to show it to them."

I'm OCing today, like every weekend. So about 15 people in Great Clips had the opportunity to see someone OC. I saw only one person glance at it.

Gil - a thigh holster?  Man, I wish I was that operator.

Last week was the first time I saw anyone open carrying.
It's hard to free people from the chains of stupidity when they wear them like jewelry.

Where I live in a rural area, In  hunting season &  out in the sticks where there are hunting camps around, yes, some.

There's a time and place for open carry. If its time, and in the right place, nobody bats an eye.

Other than that,, hardly ever.

Most people around here that carry an EDC, are responsible law abiding citizens, that prefer low profile, and  realize thats a HUGE  tactical blunder.  In my 30 years of conceal carry in my area. To my knowledge, We've NEVER had an incident where a licensed conceal carrier did something wrong and been charged. Ive also ask our sherriff that issues the permits that same question, and he said he knows of no incidents either.
And on the rare occasion in town, its usually some show off  obnoxious asshat trying to intimidate people that probably should NOT be carrying anything more dangerous than a airsoft. Those people generally get into trouble with their mouth pretty quickly, and The police usually take care of it in short order. And they do have a pretty good sense of humor about it. But they, like the sherriff, encourage conceal carry.

And there are a ton of folks around here that conceal carry.  I think over 25,000 in my county with a population of 81,000. So damn near a 1/3 rd.
Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often, and for the same reason.

There are two kinds of people in the world my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. YOU DIG.  " Blondie".

Well, any man that wouldnt cheat at cards for a poke, dont want one bad enough. " Gus".
