The OFFICIAL Rimfire thread!
« on: May 05, 2011, 02:53:28 PM »
Now that we have no "Groups" anymore, I thought I'd start these threads... Previously, there was a "group" for each manufacturer... One could talk about that brand and/or post pics.

Anyway, if ya got a rimfire handgun and are proud of it, this is the place to do a yee haw or post up a pic or whatever!

Can't beat .22 for price, yet still fun. Love mine.

Yea.  Had to lube it up real good and clean it .  I bought used so dont know how many rounds threw it .    Other than the slide it feels like my other 1911s.  After good cleaning shes running good.

Not a big fan of rimfire handguns, I do have several rifles and run about 500 rounds a month through them.

.22RF are a lot of fun and cheep to shoot.  Did I mention they're cheep??

I started collecting Nylon 66 variants years ago and I have all of the versions except a 22 smoothbore.  Anyone got one of those you want to get rid of?

I also have a number of S&W 22's and several rifles, including a H&R Reising Model 65 and several 22 WRF rifles.

I have also just purchased (not in hand yet) a Chiappa 1911-22 pistol just to see how they shoot.  Much cheaper than getting an Ace kit.

Yea, If I were buying a new 22 pistol, I think I'd look at the 1911 style 22.

I just spent 2 hours in line getting a baby seat installed and checked for my parents. Had I know I'd be spending 2 hours, I would have done it myself

For roughly the same price, you can get a GSG 1911-22.  Full size frame, pretty much the same weight as a regular 1911.

The conversion kit is still a good option, but I really enjoy having a completely dedicated .22 in a 1911 frame.

I got a gsg.  Put another 100 rounds threw it this morning.  Personally I would go with the GSG over the conversion kits,  get the whole gun for same prices as the slide / mag .

Yeah but the conversion offers you the trigger time on the same gun you carry (if you carry the 1911 that is) which is valuable.

True.  But the GSG has an adjustable trigger - it's not hard to get it set up to be pretty much identical to your carry weapon.  The frame and internals are completely interchangeable with a full sized .45 - even the mags are identically sized.

To each his own though.  I just know that there would be a point in time with the conversion kit that I walked out with  a .22 upper and .45 mags, which would obviously be a bad thing to do.

You should check it out just for the hell of it.

But its not going to be the same recoil so its not the same thing,  I would rather have the whole gun.  Fire a few hundered 22s and then run some ammo threw your carry gun .   But to each his own .

Yeah I guess either way it will just come down to personal preference.
