Anyone get a look at these bad boys on the sig website? There is lots of cool new stuff!!!!

I am thinking about downsizing the carry gun to a p229 because they have the same capacity in 357 sig which is kind of goofy. I probably wont though because I just got to the point where it is my best shooting gun. I passed up my G17.

Awesome video.  I wonder if that was staged or an out-take that they liked better.

New P290 had an excellent day at the range today.  No FTF or FTE and the mags fit really well.  The grips are little skinny for my liking so probally need to get the Hogue Handall for it.  I'm pleased with it and making it my primary carry.  On a side note it fits really well into a N8-2 tactical IWB holster.

I presently 2 Sig Sauer handguns:  The P229 357sig cal, and the extended barrel Mosquito 22lr cal.   The P226 is the DAK version as used here in Texas by the DPS and others  they selected the DAK and the 357sig caliber after it proved the most effective round, and as safe as the revolvers it was replacing (the 357 Sig has 40% more ft/lbs wallop than the 45ACP!)  My carry ammo is Winchester Ranger X (hard to find, but well worth it, exceptional expansion and penetration).   The Mosquito got some bad press early on, but all the problems are long gone.  Break it in with CCI Mini-Mags (200rnds), then straight to Federal bulk and it is a very happy camper.  Both guns have exceptional accuracy for having çombat'sites.  The 226 has the Sig tritium night sites.

The P226 is my primary carry, and in a Galco IWB holster it is surprisingly easy to conceal....but HEAVY).

So on to the pics:

Just had Ryan order me one of those P226's from Sarco! They are Israeli Military Surplus! How do you like those Hogue Wrap around grips? I have one on my 1911 and it helps!

Lone Rider Leather

Those Hogue grips are amazing.   When I was shopping for a primary I was in Shooter's corner here in Tx Cty and they had this P226.  I had never handled one so was trying it out for fit.  The balance is superb.  While I was looking it over, Jerry introduced me to the DPS guy down the counter a ways.  He came over and explained the history of how DPS/Rangers had selected this gun and the 357sig caliber.  Quite a story.  He also asked how I liked the feel.  I told him it was great, but my large hands would take a little adjusting.  He grinned and turned  to the side so I could see his duty weapon.  Told me that most of the troopers had gone to Hogue grips, as they worked very well for medium and large paws.  So when I bought the gun, I had Jerry get me a pair of Hogues for it.  Wouldn't trade that gun for the world!   The DAK trigger took some getting used to, but once I got the 'feel'  I understood exactly why DPS choose it over the DA/SA.   Like the old revolvers it is safe, and ready to use with no fumbling with safeties, just point and squeeze.

Lots of bad mouthing on the forums and blogs about DAK, but learn first hand before saying to much.   As I said once I got the hang of it, about 2-300 rnds everything changed...it happens fairly suddenly and you will be surprised.   My other guns are all DA/SA and I like them as well, but as I said the DAK became my primary.

Anyone ever bought a used Sig that's been "re-Certified" by Sig?  I've seen some with pretty decent prices on GB and in the photos they look like new.

They are basically reconditioned guns. They should be good if the price is right
