The OFFICIAL Glock Thread
« on: April 27, 2011, 09:18:32 AM »
Now that we have no "Groups" anymore, I thought I'd start these threads... Previously, there was a "group" for each manufacturer... One could talk about that brand and/or post pics.

Anyway, if ya got a Glock and are proud of it, this is the place to do a yee haw or post up a pic or whatever!

Oh come on.....if you paid thousands of dollars for the very best, top grade 1911 and some clown comes along and beats you with a $400 plastic pistol, wouldn't you hate Glocks too?-

Has anyone here used a SS recoil assembly?

I just got a Glockmeister SS rod and recoil spring in today for my 23 (after waiting a month). Going to hit the range next weekend to see if it makes a difference. I put it on a scale and it weighs 1.1 oz and my stock one was .5 oz.

No, I've never bothered. Some recoil springs need to be replaced periodically. The Glock springs seem to be good almost for forever... But, I'd venture to say that unless you get a tungsten guiderod, that specifically ads weight - you probably will never notice the difference

So, you Gen 4 guys... How are you liking the new Glocks?

I got to shoot a Gen 4 Glock 23 about a week or so ago. It was just so so. I'm not a big 40 cal fan. The Beretta PX4 in 40 I shot immediately before it had less recoil.

My fav Glock I've ever shot is still the Glock 17 RTF2 I once owned.

I stayed away from the gen4 mess intentionally. The Gen 3 works great...

I started my glock collection with a 26. I needed a reliable carry pistol that I can practice with.

A year later, I tried a G17 at the range. Its simplicity was refreshing and I really liked the way it worked with my hands. I also loved the lighter weight. I was getting used to the glock trigger to. I wanted to try carrying a full size 9mm. And I'm not BSC like Shipwreck  :P , so carrying the M9 was out. And I wanted to get the "original" Glock.

A few months later I decided to get a G22. I like the round capacity for a 40 cal. I'm glad I got this gun. The recoil is significant however, I'm as accurate with it as I am the G17.

I'm thinking about having a collection of nothing but Berettas and Glocks...
Beretta: M9, PX4 FDE, 92 FS, PX4 black, PX4 INOX 40
Glock: 17,19 gen 3 and gen 4, 26, 22, gen 3 23
1911: Dan Wesson
S&W M&P 9
Mossberg m590a1, Remington 870 HD, Benelli Nova
Marlin 336

There is a lot of folks that just want the latest and greatest. I kind of used to be that way with computers, I never have bought a store bought PC, I have always built my own, but I would get the latest and greatest parts when they become available, and build mine.  I love all my gen 3's, I have a 34...23...and 21sf. and I personally cannot feel any difference in the gen 4's, especially shooting them.  Personally, I have never had a pistol in my life that fits my hand better and is more fun to shoot than my G23, and I have owned Sigs, etc. If you own any gen 3 and want to go with a gen 4, you either have a lot of money and just want the latest and "supposedly greatest"  or you don't own a gen three, and only own earlier gen. versions, or you don't own a glock at all.

I've got a Gen 4 19. It's the first Glock I've owned but I had the opportunity to compare with the Gen 3 since and I'd choose the 4 again. I didn't notice any difference in range behavior but I thought the 4 was more comfortable in my hand though that may be just because I'm used to it.
I will say it took me a while to get comfortable with the whole plastic fantastic thing, it just felt so insubstantial but now I really like it.
I had TR Graham do the trigger job on it yesterday at the show and I'm looking forward to taking it to the range this week.

All but a 17L and 24.   20 total .   You're not far back with your beretta collection.

Thanks.   Thinking of adding another 20 or 21 to get the 50gi conversion for it.   But waiting to find the right deal on a used one for that to happen
