Local man says tire shop ruined classic Corvette

Quote
HOUSTON -- A local couple is blaming a Houston tire shop for ruining their Christmas.
They said workers at Sam's Club damaged the husband's vintage Corvette -- a new gift from his wife.

When you take an expensive classic car to Sam's Club for tires, you kind of sign up for the possibility of it being damaged.
But their insurance or Sam's itself will end up covering repairs if for no other reason than to avoid the impact to sales for their tire service.

It seems that nobody got hurt; not sure why this is news.  It's a car!

Not sure I would take my classic to Sam's club for tires, but I guess if you want to save up a buck you'll roll the dice.

I wouldn't take ANYTHING of mine to Sams or WalMart for auto anything. Well, Sears too for that matter.

I get some of the craziest crap towed to me that has been at one of those places.  Always something dumb.

I don't say we should kill all the stupid people...just omit the warning labels and the gene pool will sort itself out.

Good in theory, but it is not possible to restore the value in a 1965 matching numbers car.  If the body is replaced, the car will no longer be matching numbers.  The panels cannot be "properly" repaired.  Sam's only option which will make it right is to buy they guy a matching numbers replacement.

It does make me wary of Wally oil changes and Sears lifetime alignments - the only service I've ever accepted from those stores.  I will probably still get those services.  If the choice is my car or some kids hand - feck the car, even if the kid was a dumbutt.  Driving a matching numbers classic vette into Sam's for tires does seem extremely shaky.  They wouldn't know enough to do a detailed inspection before accepting the car and I gotta wonder if that wife was capable of said detailed inspection.  Wouldn't surprise me to learn that Sam's is gonna foot the bill for her fail.  Nice Christmas present - for sure.

+1.  I won't even bring my beat up daily driver to them, let alone my classic.
