Walther PK380 Recall
« on: August 27, 2013, 08:38:30 AM »
http://www.waltherarms.com/recall-notice/

Quote
Walther has identified a condition that may exist in certain PK380 pistols which may permit a round to be discharged if the trigger is pulled, despite engagement of the manual safety. Walther has found that engagement of the manual safety may not prevent firing of a chambered round when the trigger is pulled.
...
This recall applies to Walther PK380, .380 ACP pistols manufactured by Carl Walther GmbH from May, 2012 to September, 2012, and which have a Serial Number ranging from
PK 101201 to PK 112155

That 380 isn't a "real" Walther - it's actually made by Umarex, the airgun company that owns Walther. They just put the "Walther" name on it, like they do the P22.

The PPX and P99 are "real" Walthers

Yeah the P22 and PK380 are made by Umarex and the rest are by Walther.
You can tell by the stampings on them.

Yes, they are made in Germany, but by Umarex.

I haven't been into Walthers in a while - but there is a proof mark on the guns when they are made in the city where the main Walther plant is. Those Umarex guns don't have the same markings, from what I remember.

Yeah I found this:
Quote
if it is a walther it will have an ulm (antler) proof mark.

if it has the koln (three crowns) it is an umarex.

I thought it was "Ulm." I didn't really wanna go research that to make sure, but that's what I thought.

I've been on the Walther Forum for years, and was once a P99 nut. I had 3 or 4 of them at 1 time. Like I do for the 92FS, I've gotten many people to buy P99s at one point. I think I had 13 or 14 sold.
