How important is length of pull?
« on: February 22, 2013, 10:31:04 PM »
My wife and I have recently started shooting clays.  I'm shooting an O/U and I traded for a Rem 1100 20ga for her to have less recoil.

Initially the 1100 was REALLY long (lop) for her and I replaced the recoil pad with a thinner one.  Still the lop for the gun is ~14" and her measured lop is about 12.5".

She looks awkward shooting but says it is not uncomfortable.  I wonder if a shorter lop would be more comfortable for her and easier to shoot.  We tried a youth sized O/U (local gun shop not shooting) but she couldn't tell any difference.

Any ideas on figuring this out?

Also, I shoot with my elbow down and she shoots with her elbow even with her ear.  It looks uncomfortable and awkward but she seems OK with it.

I'm not going to be dogmatic about this but would just like to know if I should try to move her to a different shooting style or just leave it alone.

Clays are FUN!
