Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Re: less mindless moron..

From a senior level manager epidemiologist / doctor at DSHS on what they know helps avoid COVID-19:

Masks help (both you and others).
Reducing exposure time helps.
Social distancing helps. 6 feet is good but 20+ feet is better.
Staying further away with barriers (as in staying inside) helps.
Washing your hands frequently (more often than you used to) helps.
Cover your sneeze / cough.
If you don't feel well, stay away from EVERYONE possible.
If you're near someone who looks sick, or indicates they're ill, stay away from them.

There are some very serious issue this country has to address in the next couple of months, including:
Opening businesses
Sending kids to school.
Keeping the country (and world) running.

Today, intentionally or irresponsibility, or appearing to irresponsibly spread COVID is generally not a crime without mal intent.  Short, expect this is going to be punishable by tort lawyers to take everything you have.  (Look up "strict tort", it's coming to your neighborhood soon)

Shortly thereafter, expect to see criminal laws covering liability / responsibility of businesses AND INDIVIDUALS  who spread or allow to spread by not taking appropriate safety measures as defined by health authorities.

Cool , I need one of those. :th_thicon_idea: :th_thicon_lol:
Excellent 308.
Let me see if I can get us a 2 for 1 deal 308.  :th_thicon_idea:

I'm not interested.

Oh, I get it - you want a recliner instead of the sofa mode. Okay  :th_thicon_lol:

This is a public health crisis. Period.
Itís not the first, nor the last but itís serious.

PEMDAS caught the virus from someone else who probably wasnít wearing a mask when the virus was aerosolized and ingested.
Is it unreasonable for people to do their small part and cover their mouths in public until we have a vaccine?

I think not.

And I expect you would feel the same way if it were to strike you.

Iíll bet we are wearing masks (or should be wearing masks) in public for another 1-3 years.
This virus isnít going away easily.

Pull weight?
Sealed / corrosion / rust proof?
Drop in or modified?

Google is your friend.

A gentleman with more common sense than all of Hollywood.

^^^^^ What Alte said!

I expect the real stimulus was not the virus as much as anarchist stimulating homeowners to invest in defensive measures.

Crepe's are incredibly cool trees, and are gorgeous when they bloom.  We have about 6, unfortunately 4 are planted a few feet from Juniper's that are overgrown by the Junipers.....

Which I'm still waiting for DCD, Axxe or Shield to show up one night and cut the Junipers down :)

Way overpriced for what you getting.

You could build one just as good if not better for about 1/2 the price.
Who would you recommend Txhillbilly for a quality sub MOA semi?

Anyone have any experience with Lone Star Armory / their Multi Purpose Rifle in either .308 or 6.5Creedmoor?

NFA / Re: Ultra quiet *Centerfire* rifle: what does it take?
« on: July 01, 2020, 09:06:26 PM »
You'll spend some money getting a centerfire rifle cartridge to be quiet.
1. You'll need to buy a rifle with an integral suppressed barrel. It has a greater suppression capability than a screw on style suppressor.
2. You will need to shoot sub-sonic ammo. Think flying brick! Like a 200+ grain bullet getting shot out of a 308 around 1000 fps.

I don't waste my time shooting sub-sonic ammo out of my centerfire rifles. To accurately shoot most sub-sonic ammo, you really need non standard twist rates for the cartridge in order to stabilize the heavier bullets getting shot at a slower speed.

The good thing about shooting a bolt action rifle suppressed is down range even when shooting supersonic ammo, you can't really tell where the sound came from.
I hunt with suppressors on my rifles, and it doesn't matter if it's deer, pigs,or turkeys. I can shoot an animal in a group, and all the other animals will just look up from the sound. They usually don't even move from where they are standing.
Hunting with a suppressed AR is a lot noisier because the cycling of the action, but as long as you hit the animal, most of the others don't pay much attention to it.

Keep going TXhillbilly!  "Quiet" to the degree possible out to +/- 200 yards works.

NFA / Ultra quiet *Centerfire* rifle: what does it take?
« on: July 01, 2020, 08:27:15 AM »
Suppressing Boomer is a bit of a joke, even with the massive sound reduction he still sounds like a 12 Ga Magnum.
Question is if I wanted the absolutely quietest*Centerfire*  rifle possible, whatís the formula that test me there:

Edited to clarify a centerfire rifle. I'm expecting it's .30 cal or less.

I bought a Black & Decker years ago to trim the big oak in the front yard. Wanted to thin it out so I could get some sunlight on the bare spots under the canopy and hopefully get the grass stimulated.

Had been cultivating a limb on a post oak in the back yard so you couldn't see the raised deck from the creek. Took me five or six years to get it right. Working the night shift I was sleeping one afternoon when I heard a chainsaw going to work. Got up and found my brother in law hacking away at the lower limbs of the post oak, at my wife's direction, the limb I had cultivated was the first victim. I was pretty pissed.
A few weeks later my wife took it to her sisters place 150 miles away and forgot to bring it back. It stayed there three months. When it returned I cleaned it up and got it ready to use for my next days off. Not to be. My wife loaned it to my neighbor down the road who used it to cut some old fence posts that had about 50 years of staples and nails in them. Ruined the chain.

After four years I replaced the chain this past April. Have put it to use on the oak tree in the front yard. Brother in law asked to borrow it last week. LOL.

ďOh hi BIL.Ē  ... What chain saw?

Besides, any self respecting gun guy would want at least a 9mm.

Shouldnít political hypocrisy be a capital offense?

i'm first hand knowledgeable with a highly irresponsible BS article written with malintent and reckless disregard that they published (with numerous errors), putting my family and several others at grave risk.  Their response, they didn't do anything wrong in publishing what they did....

Here's to hoping their entire staff finds themselves stranded unarmed in a dark alley in Baltimore's Hopkins-Middle East neighborhood.

(Not that I have any feelings on them or the subject :)  )

Thanks for that therapy session.
