I can't say that I feel sorry for the dirtbag, but I wish that he had done it after the trial. I believe there would have been some tasty bits of info brought out about Slick Willie, Schumer and other notables that he hung out with.
Something fishy about him not being on suicide watch :thinker:

A friend of mine sent me this presentation by an Austrian survivor of WWII. Her tale doesn't sound much different from today. It's over 30 minutes, so you'd better get out the popcorn :th_thicon_idea:

You were very lucky. About 15 years ago a skunk entered my back yard. My dog found the skunk and did his duty and protected his yard. My wife and I were sound asleep and didn't hear the altercation. The dog had a dog door and came back in the house roamed about and headed for his bed in our bedroom. About 2 a.m. I woke with a terrible headache and felt miserable. Since my nose had already become somewhat accustomed to the smell, it took about 10 -15 minutes to realize that the house reeked of the smell of skunk. It took about a week to rid the house, dog and furnishings of the smell of skunk. Not a fond memory :sick2:

Welcome, there is nothing wrong with Beaumont, it's just kind of an unusual first choice. You must have friends or relatives there :wave1:

THE NEW ANT and the Grasshopper, Two Versions:

The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER   This one is a little different...Two Different Versions... Two Different Morals

OLD VERSION.

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN   and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green...'

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the Black Lives Matter group singing, We shall overcome.

Then Reverend Al Sharpton has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper while he damns the ants. He later appears on MSNBC to complain that rich people do not care

Former President Obama condemns the ant and blames Donald Trump, President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight. Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer exclaim in an interview on The View that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire an proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper .

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.  The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood. The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2020.  I've sent this to you because I believe that you are an ant not a grasshopper! Make sure that you pass this on to other ants.

Don't bother sending it on to any grasshoppers because they wouldn't understand it, anyway.

I haven't sent the do-nothing Republican party a dime in the past 20 years. There needs to a real Conservative party with ambitious leadership. Probably will never happen, but if it does I will be happy to write some serious checks.

Handguns and Revolvers / Re: Dual barrel 8 shot .22 WMR Pistol
« on: July 17, 2019, 05:46:29 PM »
That double barrel .22 may not be such a dumb idea after all :th_thicon_idea:
Someone more knowledgable than me ought to check this out, but from my Internet search those two .22 WMR have more energy than a .45 auto.

I just picked the highest energy number for each:
22 WMR  322         X  2  = 644 ftlbs
9mm Luger                    = 455
.45 auto                        = 587

Comments?

I wonder what single round of ammo would have the equivalent energy/stopping power of 2 simultaneous .22 WMR rounds. Ought to be greater than a 9mm?

You would think that with all the "accidents" involving people using cell phones while driving, or texting, and the number of people that have been killed because of such behavior that these people would wake up and realize the deadly dangers involved doing such things. But no, they don't. They continue to perpetuate the same behavior and still, people are dying.

I put it up there with the same reckless behavior as drunk driving. The results and tragedy are the same. I think that it should be a federal law against texting and driving. 1st offense: DL suspended for a year. An accident involved for first 1st offense should be a five-year suspension. 2nd offense: DL suspended for five years. The accident involved for the second offense: Lifetime DL suspension. 3rd offense: Lifetime suspension of DL. The accident involved for 3rd offense: Five years in prison.

Good idea,  but what about the passengers? I'd just as soon have them busy with their phones than have them yammering in my ears while I'm driving

I thought that the Supreme Court already ruled that law enforcement has no legal requirement to protect individuals? So isn't this an exercise in futility?

Personally, I think the guy is the lowest form of scum.

Now with a name like Scott Peterson, this guy already has a strike or two against him. Does anybody remember Laci Peterson?

Cars, Trucks, Bikes, Atvs / Re: No more red light cameras
« on: June 03, 2019, 05:25:55 PM »
Unless I'm mistaken, the red-light cameras only capture a violators license plate. Now, that is all fine and dandy, if the person that owns the vehicle is the violator. What if it's a friend that borrowed your vehicle, or your wife or husband that decided to switch vehicles, or Jr. has borrowed the family vehicle for the day? Or any other of a dozen scenarios that are "ticketing" the vehicle, or it's owner, and possibly not the actual violator?

In no way do I condone, or advocate, running red lights. I don't do it personally, and I think violators should be ticketed for doing so. But as mentioned, I see such cameras as revenue generators, not about increasing safety by ticketing violators. But many will say that is what they are about to justify their usage, safety.

That may be true in Texas. But I lived in California previously. The traffic cameras there not only got my plate number but there was an additional photo of my smiling face :frown:  I guess that was so I couldn't say that someone else was driving.
The quality of the pictures was very good.

I am sure that if I decide to run a red light or more likely, miss seeing it, there will be a LEO near by to inform me of my discretion and write the appropriate ticket. Just like it was in the Old Days. Neither way stopped red light running.
Since I moved to Texas, I have always been amazed by the lack of concern by Texans of Red light violations. I can go through a changing light, only to look in the rearview to see 5-6 more cars behind me dashing through that same now red light.
