Gun News & Laws / Re: Trump may not be all that pro 2A
« on: August 16, 2019, 01:18:14 PM »
He's a New York liberal. He wrote about his support of gun bans in one of his books. The NRA should never have endorsed him.

I'm honestly not sure why anyone ever thought he was pro 2A other than wishful thinking.

I recently discovered Sabaton. They are pretty great. Metal bags that sings about history.

For example, this is about Audie Murphy:

Also, they have a history channel where they talk about the songs and the actual inspiration behind them :

Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / Re: TV Worth Watching?
« on: August 13, 2019, 01:00:30 PM »
If you have Amazon Prime watch The Expanse. It's awesome.

It's a hard-ish Sci-Fi where there's no real magic tech beyond engines efficient enough to accelerate at several G's for days or weeks. There's no artificial gravity, but ships are built like a skyscraper with the engines on the bottom, so that while your accelerating the thrust creates artificial gravity. But if you're just coasting it's float or use mag boots!

Anyway I can sing it's praises all day, it's good. Watch it.

300blk is pretty good in a short barrel from what I understand.

Your best option for changing the size of the front sight is to buy after market.

I have Trijicon HD sights on my glock, which are basically the same as what you ended up with after blacking out the rear sights. Large front dot and blacked out rear.

The real answer here is "buy a Tavor and don't worry about barrel length ever again"  :P :P :P

Very cool.

I remember when you let me shoot that rifle. Very nice!

Thanks!

Its gotten so much better since then. I have a 2.5x prism scope from Primary Arms with the ACSS reticle, a Geissele trigger pack and bow, and the hand guard mounted bipod.

Its an awesome rifle!

Reddit isn't blocked at work, this place is. *shrug*

Also I closed my Facebook account and I'm a happier person now. Social media is terrible.

Yeah, I mention the G19 and the sights because if you've ever seen Trijicon HD night sights, they're huge. They're meant for quick acquisition for self defense situations at close range. At 100 yards the front post was larger than the target!

So short radius and sub-optimal sights!

I once took a two day handgun class from Combative Weapon Solutions at a range in Bastrop, it was a great class and I'd love to take more classes from them, but I think they mostly focus on other things now (you can see their website here: https://tacticalfirearmstrainingaustin.com/)

Anyway, on day two they had us line up in front of the targets (standard IDPA silhouettes) about 25 yards away. The guy in the front would shoot 10 rounds, them move to the back of the line. It was sorta like a reverse leap frog, every time it was your turn to shoot you'd be about 10 yards further back. We did this until we got to 100 yards. We *all* hit it, I could not believe I could hit a man sized target at 100 yards with my Glock 19 and Trijicon HD sights, but I did!

It got crazier though, they took us out to 150 yards and gave everyone a chance to hit a metal gong that was about the size of a car door. It took me 5 shots but I heard that steel ring!
