I dont put much stuck in the polls.

And I thought early and mail in Ballots are tallied but they dont release numbers of who they are for. While they do release the fact it was a D or R registered ballot returned that does not mean the registered D or R voter voted for their registered party.

General Gun Discussion / What was your last gun you bought?
« on: October 22, 2020, 01:54:44 PM »

Got a gun, then got a couple books to go with it  :thumbsup1:
I replaced a few springs with new ones from Wolff, then found a magazine for it that wouldn’t seat with the slide in battery. Had to massage the feedlips a bit to get it to fit. But I still haven’t found any .25ACP to test fire it.
I got some .25 I will sell you.
83 total rds.
Some ball sone jhp
I will take 35 bux for it all.
PM me.

Motor starting capacitors are the most common issue in AC’s.
They cost $5-15 at an electric supply (except in Austin) or $10-15 off Amazon delivered tomorrow.

They are easy to install. Make a note of current push-on connectors on old capacitor remove and replace.

By the way, there is another way to get the AC running again, using an electric drill to start the fan blade running, but you need to think it through well the process and what’s going to happen (like how the drill *instantly* disconnects once the fan starts ).
:)
Water hose does same and way safer.

368 for a 15 dollar capacitor.
Glad you got it up n running quickly

Had mine ckd earlier this yr and it needed 2 lbs of R22 I was lucky as I have a “friend”who did it. Only cost me 150 total. He usually gets a 100 a lb for R22 now plus service call I got about 1/2 off.

I know enough about AC to ck the start cap and Ive swapped a few over the yrs. If your unit(s) are up in yrs a spare on hand is not a bad idea.

CHL - Concealed Handgun License / Re: WAITING PERIOD FOR LTC?

Been pulled over with my weapon

You said you were waiting for your LTC. How can you hand it to an officer, unless you previously had one and it expired? Just curious...
Ship
Billy quoted me. I posted that.
Ive had mine several yrs.
His reply is the bold type on the bottom

Wow...finally received the coveted all green check marks last Friday (10/16) which states LTC is in the mail.  Ended up taking 63 days total.  It was well worth the wait though, and I'm so glad to have finally jumped through all the hoops to get one.

The guy who trained me at the gun range said that having a LTC comes in handy if ever pulled over because cops know you're less likely to be a person of bad repute.  Would be curious if anyone has any personal encounters to verify this?
Been pulled over with my weapon
I ALWAYS hand officer both DL and LTC and inform him weapon is on me and where.

Other than usually something like OK dont reach for yours and I wont teach for mine type of reply no effect.

However I tend to be respectful to LE and I believe THAT effects the situation more.

I have a good gun case for the new .308, which has the ‘punch out’ squares of foam.  My Barrett came with a custom foam insert that was an exact fit and much firmer foam.  Any idea where I can get a firm, custom foam cutout for the .308’s gun case?
Go to the Hobby store buy a pc of foam in the density of your liking and bust out the exacto knife.

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Re: Amy C Barrett hearings.
« on: October 16, 2020, 04:27:12 PM »
This morning,  Graham said next week is the vote. Dems tried to block it by whinning, Graham matter if factly said Nope. Next week.

Yesterday Democrats were trying to make motions to delay, Graham just laughed and shook his head NO. Saying " NO, NOT HAPPENING. I refuse to hear that motion.  " :rocknroll2:

Even old mittens Romney  jumped on board when he seen she was getting confirmed WITH OR WITHOUT him.

Collins is still saying no, but all 3 of the rinos , mittens, Collins, and Murkowski,  were ALREADY irrelevant.  They cant stop it if they wanted too.

Barrett is just way too popular.

With Graham so certain she was getting confirmed BEFORE Romney jumped on board, that tells me we are going to see some Democrats vote FOR barrett.

What's interesting is 2 scotus clerks, for Thomas and ? .  Both testified.  Whether they were actually SENT by SCOTUS is the question.

But 2 clerks who served sitting SCOTUS  judges , testifying for barrett was certainly setting a new president.

Its clear,  they want barrett.

So watch for dems to try a weekend smear campaign.

Not sure if the dems totally gave up their crap yet, but as we all know, most of these liberals certainly do crap outta sheer spite. Sore loser syndrome.

But barrett will be confirmed next week.

There is no doubt. :thumbsup1:
Agreed.
Rs have the votes.
Ds have the wambulance and whine one one other than that they got nothing.

Handguns and Revolvers / Gun buying strategy for current climate?
« on: October 13, 2020, 11:37:14 AM »
I got really lucky recently (August) and just happened to be at my local pawn shop in Brenham when a beautiful Mossberg 590 Tactical 12-gauge shotgun just happen to be sitting on the shelf.  I'm standing there chatting with the guy about rifles and shotguns and how scarce everything is, when he says "check this out - it just came in about an hour ago and will be gone by end of the day today".  I didn't even hesitate and grabbed it and for a really good price - much cheaper than what they are going for right now.  It's the ammo that's a pain to get at the moment, which is thru the roof.  The only ammo our local Wal Mart has for shotgun is #7.5 bird shot and no buck or slug and seems like everything is going for $1 per round or higher.  Luckily I bought 500 rounds of 5.56 NATO for my AR-15 last year, so I'm good on rifle ammo.
500 rds thats a days worth maybe two if ya conserve.
Just scored Wolf Ammo 9pellet 00 buck for 7.99/5rds. To add to my shotty stash.
I have a good stash of 7.62x39 for my AR SKS AK and Ruger Bolt gun (close to 5k last count. Also have a decent stock for my other long guns.
Also well stocked on Pistol ammo and as of now scored some bullets and primers so I can hit the reload bench and add to the pistol stock.

In light of things my shooting recently has been 22cal break barrel and 22LR as well as the crossbow.

Im gonna set on my stash for a bit I know my guns are sighted and work so I have no worries there. Things will relax after POTUS reelection.

Personally I got no interest in anything Glock.
I would t mind a S&W knife if I could find one of the good ones before they became mfg in chinka.

... DT will be reelected.

I believed that until I recently received a mass-mailed unsolicited application for a mail in ballot from another state from a specific political party.
Addressed to “The (TXAZ) family or current resident”.
I’m starting to believe that 30% of the votes will be from 1 legit voter, 30% a few times and 40% hundreds.
Only way Biden wins if a D cheat of some type.
Be it mail in votes counted multi times or not at all.
I just dont believe that even thougj DT is a loose cannon that enougj Americans want to see the end of the world(country) as we know it by in Harris’s words Riding Biden.
