Optics, Lights, Lasers, Holsters & Accessories / Nightforce Optics
« on: February 13, 2013, 12:11:41 AM »
Anyone here have either a 2.5-10x32 NXS or 3.5-15x50 ffp nightforce optic around the Houston area that wouldn't mind letting me try out at the range or willing to offer a review? I'm trying to decide on which magnification I want for my new rifle and it could potentially be a costly mistake if I select the wrong one. I'd prefer the 2.5-10x32 bc of the weight and size difference but the 15x may be better suited to my needs. Just would prefer to look through one or the other or both before I drop the cash on one.

Thanks.

Also any G10 grips can be easily sanded down with some fine grit sandpaper. Even on my more aggressive grips there are certain spots that I like to knock down a bit so they don't run my hand raw after long shooting sessions.

Do yall use textured or smooth grips for IWB carry? I prefer smooth grips. I'm looking at the VZ 320s or the ETC-Frags, but I'm still wary that they're not going to be smooth enough.

The 320s are not aggressive at all they are very easy to carry with.

those grips are nice.  i'm trying to look for a set that are thin, but have not found any that i like.

Talk to Larry Davidson. He will make you custom grips. Really great guy. Just sent him an email with what you want exactly. You can even send him designs you want on it.

After reading the Form 1 and Form 4 again, nowhere does it indicate you need to send a copy of your trust paperwork.
Only asks to send in 2 copies of the Form 1 or Form 4.

If you find any language that indicates otherwise, let me know.

Vandenberg Customs is also in Houston area. He's a good guy. Seen a lot of his work and spoke to him a few times.

Briley is good for machine work as well. But don't let them sell you one of their bushings.

Sounds good. I need to get out to one of the meets sooner rather than later. My schedule has just been hectic the last few months.

I'd likely not take it out past 300 yards in the field but I'd like to have some magnification to have more accurate shots at 150-250 range. How quick is target acquisition at 4x?

Almost exactly what I was going to order but not the LE version. I love the naked slide with ball cuts. Great piece.

Does Hotwells still charge per weapon? I really want to try and make it out but depends on my work schedule. Seems like some idiots want to plan a work meeting on Sunday afternoon.

For 1911 go full size IMHO. I have an EMP which I like a lot but it's still not the same.

How compact do you need it? Single stack only? Springfield is coming out with their XDs which should be nice.

If you can do double stack then you have plenty of options. Glock, XD, XDm, M&P, etc.
