General Gun Discussion / Re: Buds Gun Shop

I have ordered several guns from Bud's, although not very recently. I do not recall an extra long wait, but my remeberer is not the greatest..........I have found that Sportsman's Guide is very competitive with Bud's (and just about anyone else) and their shipments have always been pretty prompt in my experience.

My 2016 Ram Laramie Longhorn 4x4 EcoDiesel. It was a retirement present to myself. Picked it up October 9, 2017, and we have put ~ 37,000 miles on it. Headed back to Wyoming and South Dakota in July. I have averaged about 24-25 MPG overall, and could not be happier with it. "Guts, Glory........RAM"............................

a man from the future perhaps ? (or did we simply miss seeing this when originally posted.....)

OOPS!!!! Make that October 9, 2015!!!

Handguns and Revolvers / Re: the Shield? AGAIN
« on: November 05, 2017, 01:32:20 AM »
I am a dyed in the wool Glock guy, but I LOVE the 9mm Shield. And I dislike the .40 Shield as much as I like the 9mm. the .40 is a HARD shooting gun, but the 9mm is almost perfect.

WHEN I carry it (RIA Full Size Tactical), it is in condition 1. But i hardly EVER tote the thing. It is almost exclusively a range gun.

Handguns and Revolvers / New Glock!
« on: November 05, 2017, 01:26:27 AM »
I went to the "Glocktober" event at GT Distributors last Saturday and picked up a Glock 19 MOS. Prior to that, I purchased a "Shield" RMS red dot optic, and now it it mounted on the G19 MOS. I really like the little Shield RMS, better even than my Trijicon RMR. When I get the thing sighted in and get used to it (and proficient), I'm thinking it will be my new EDC.

Outdoors / Skipped Opening Day/Week-end

Just too darn warm to suit me. My lease is near Brackettville, and the weather forecasts called for mid-upper 80s for a high, and 70's for lows. That ain't deer hunting weather! I will more than likely head out next Wednesday...........forecast calls for highs in mid 70 range and lows in the 50s..........I can abide that.

I'm interested. Are they still available?

Sorry.........I just got back home from vacation.........Yes, I still have them. Shoot me a PM with your contact number.

Nope........I always pick up my brass and take it home with me. They have no problem with that at all.........But they just do not allow steel or aluminum cased ammo. Their range......their rules.

« on: May 25, 2017, 01:21:38 AM »
Howdy..........I have three boxes 115gr Monarch 9mm steel cased ammo and 12 rounds from another box. Total of 162 rounds. I can not use steel cased ammo at my range, so I would like to sell it. I will sell all the ammo for $25.00. I live in Crosby, and I can meet somewhere convenient for both parties, but I will not drive 40-50 miles just to sell three boxes of ammo. Thanks for looking.

Tactical Shooting / LSSA (Lone Star Shooting Association)
« on: May 25, 2017, 01:07:07 AM »
Does anyone have any idea if the LSSA still exists? We had a small group meeting in Crosby a couple years ago or so at the High Noon range, but folks moved off, had health problems, or some such, and then the range was sold. I really enjoyed the LSSA, they had rules that made accommodations for older folks with physical limitations. It was really a good time. Hopefully, the LSSA is still in existence. I'm really hoping there is something around the Crosby area.  Thanks in advance for any help or info.  :anyonesign:

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello from Crosby, Texas
« on: April 19, 2017, 12:46:39 AM »
Howdy.......I just signed up on the forum. I am a member of other forums, including Texas Gun Talk, Texas Hunting Forum, and Texas Gun Trader. I like all guns, but I am especially drawn to Glocks. I am a Glock Certifed Armorer. I am also a member of two gun ranges, one outdoor and one indoor. I shoot ad much as possible, but unfortunately, that is not a great deal, but I hope to change that very soon. I was in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as an Air-Evac Med Tech 1969-1977, and I am a retired Police Officer. Looking forward to being an active participant on the forum. Thanks for reading my post.

Are you the same Dennis i traded glocks with?? Its JB. I traded you a G22 for a G27.

Yep.......That's me, JB! How are you doing?

Guess not..................

I retired from HPD (Houston) on September 11, 2015 (the date was intentional) with 31 years and 9 months service, counting the Academy. I loved darn near every second of it, but I am sure loving retirement as well!!

Ammunition / Re: Freedom ammunition
« on: March 26, 2017, 01:31:12 AM »
Sorry to hear of your hassle with Freedom Ammunition. Several years ago, I started ordering from them, as they had very attractive prices for bulk ammo. I have purchased probably 8000-10,000 rounds of .40 S&W and some 9mm and .380. Although they were a tad slow in their shipping, I always got my order, and it was always correct. I found their ammo to be extremely high quality and very clean shooting. At that time, a guy by the name of Steven Snyder owned the business, but I don't know if he is still the owner. I checked the website a couple of weeks ago, and it had changed completely, so there just might be a new owner.
