General Gun Discussion / Re: Back Up Gun (BUG)
« on: November 09, 2019, 11:45:22 AM »
Seldom carry a bug.  But always have ...

actually (Richard) Lee Emery probably had a less distinguished, 11 years or so, Military career than the recruits in the video (if they're indeed  real Marines - not just actors)

he had a non-glorious RVN tour of 14 months

got promoted to E6 (staff sergeant) before he medically retired from the Corps

his promotion to E7 (gunnery sergeant) was "honorary" 30 years after he left the Service

the guy was an "actor", not really a Military man.....I did/do, however, like the Hollywood stuff that he put out

guess I'm fading.....I rarely even carry anymore (but when I do it's my Sig 938 - no BUG)

do however have a G26 w/extra mag in the truck's console and an LCR .357 (loaded w/.38 special) in my Wife's truck's console

Hard to beat a BMW, unless you get a Mercedes Benz

The biggest concern I have with them is the initial investment.

never had, nor lusted after a Mercedes - I'm sure they're good cars (but they've just come out with a cheapie little car - BMW did also   :frown:

initial expense isn't all that bad for these cars but the upkeep will just about put ya in the poor house (even the tires - a set will run around $2k, gulp and they come with NO SPARE ! )

I've had a 325Ic convertible, an M6, two 850s and a M5 - also a Porsche guy - have owned 3 of those :  a 356, 912 and a 911 - also good cars

have owned 2 BMW 850s in the past - a '91 850I and a '93Ci - they're not a car that'll break and acceleration records but they are true GT cars, the 5.4L V12 is a smooth running outstanding engine - I've driven both from Tejas to the west coast and back (bought the '93Ci from a dealer in Las Vegas and drove it home from there) - during the years that these were built '90-'99) BMW also produced a V8 version, the 840 (4 liter V8)

the example in the below advert might be worth my while at which to take a closer look

woke up to 32 degree temp and it's sat there for 3 hours (8:30 now) - thank goodness there's no frozen precip associated with the temp

best of health and luck to your Wife - that gotta be a scary happening that she's gone thru !

the Wife is on the Keto diet so I've been cooking my stuff and she's been doing her thing - but I got online and searched for some Keto recipes that would interest me

tonight we're having Parmesan Crusted Salmon Steaks (the topping has the Parmesan along with minced Parsley, Dill and Lemon Zest) and, as a Veggie side, I'll stir-fry Snow Peas in Garlic Butter (then when she's taken her Snow Peas I'll add a little of my homemade Teriyaki Sauce) then Cole Slaw for a Salad

manana I've got the ingredients for tricked up Oven Baked Pork Chops

however, manana morning it's 'sposed to get down to freezing - don't know if I'm ready for that.....brrrrr  (altho HVAC heatpumps are wonderful things)

Smith County (the county boarding Wood Co on the South - "Wood", where I live) passed a resolution today declaring it's a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County for gun owners (did I hear there was just 1 other in the State ?)

I've got 3 RDS' - had the slides milled to accommodate on 2 of our Glocks (G19 and G34) - the 3rd one is mounted on a hybrid Charger (upon which I'd rather have a Scope)

'twas "just the thing" a few years back but wouldn't buy them now - and, I much prefer a Laser on a pistol (but who knows, my cares and don't cares could change again)

don't think the benefit justifies the cost.....but, different strokes

..Chicken & Dumplings last night..
mmmmm, Chicken and Dumplings - I like the Dumplings light and fluffy, sitting atop the Chicken "stew" - like my Mom used to make for us

I asked her one time to tell me how to make those, she actually showed me but I've been unable to make 'em like she did  :frown:

(don't care for gooey doughballs that sit in the stew mixture)
