Rifles & Shotguns / Building a bolt action precision rifle
« on: August 04, 2016, 08:00:57 AM »
Guys,

I want to get into long range precision shooting with a bolt action long gun, and need some advice/suggestions.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Rem 700, in .308.  Mainly because of aftermarket support, plus I really like the Magpul Hunter stock, and I can pick those stock up very cheap on sale.

With that said, there are different versions of the Rem 700.  Should I just get the low end (ADL version), since I'll be swapping out the stock/trigger/barrel down the road; or should I step up and get a more expensive version?

Or, is there other rifle makes that are better suited for the task?  Ruger/Tikka/Sakko?

Thanks.

Any body wants to meet up?  Kind of getting bored shooting by myself.

NON FIREARMS FOR SALE / For sale-67 Pontiac Firebird
« on: July 27, 2015, 07:50:46 AM »
I thought of keeping this car for my kids when they grow up, but things have changed, and figured I'd post it up for sale to see if there are any interests.

The car is a 67 Pontiac Firebird 400.  The original drivetrain was long gone, and replaced with a 5.3/4l60e combo from a 2002 Silverado.  I did a frame off restoration on the car, with every nut/bolt either replaced or refinished.  I replaced the quarters/trunk pan/repaired the ds door.  The car has been updated with modern amenities including AC, stereo with subwoofer.  New wirings, disc brakes front/rear, updated suspensions front/rear.  Custom 3-piece 18" wheels  I drove the car to Cruizin the Coast in MS in 2013, and did the Power Tour this past June.

Asking $39,500 or reasonable offers.  Car is located in Houston (NE area, near Lake Houston).  Please contact me directly at rickpaw@aol.com.  Thanks.

Hi guys,

I'm selling my almost new (less than 50 rounds) PSA complete AR15 upper (16" FN carbine barrel/MI free float rail), with Magpul MBUS sights.  No BCG or charging handle.  $450 or $570 with BCG/CH.

Found a hand gun I want to get, so would like to sell this to fund the purchase.  Upper is located in NE Houston (Summerwood area)

Rifles & Shotguns / Carry loaded ar15 rifle or pistol in vehicle?
« on: January 13, 2014, 09:08:03 PM »
Just curious to see anyone carries an ar rifle/pistol in their vehicles as a back up?  I read an article (actually the last article of a 4 part series) in a conceal/carry mag my buddy at work brought, and it suggested that having a loaded ar15 with extra mags is a good idea.  What are your thoughts on that?  In Texas, you can have a loaded long gun in the vehicle, within reach, correct?

Introduce Yourself / Hello from Summerwood
« on: December 19, 2013, 05:13:39 PM »
Hi, newbie from Summerwood.  We moved to Houston couple years ago from Portland, OR.  Our interests include camping/outdoor stuff.  I'm big into classic cars (have a 67 Firebird), and about a year ago started to get into firearms.  Hope to see some of you guys at the range.
