NFA / Ultra quiet *Centerfire* rifle: what does it take?
« on: July 01, 2020, 08:27:15 AM »
Suppressing Boomer is a bit of a joke, even with the massive sound reduction he still sounds like a 12 Ga Magnum.
Question is if I wanted the absolutely quietest*Centerfire*  rifle possible, what’s the formula that test me there:
Ammo
Rifle
Modifications
Suppressor

Edited to clarify a centerfire rifle. I'm expecting it's .30 cal or less.

General Gun Discussion / Quick access handguns at the doors
« on: June 26, 2020, 10:43:43 PM »
My wife has decided we need a gun near each of the 3 doors after some of the recent events.  I'd prefer to have them in a quick access lock box suitable disguised vs a drawer (no kids under 60 here but no reason for someone visiting to stumble onto one).

What suggestions do you guys have for quick access that's not obviously a gun safe, that could blend in?
Does anyone make something that attaches to the back of the door, but isn't obviously a gun cabinet?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

General Gun Discussion / Frangible ammo for home defense

Curious if you use or have considered using frangible ammo for home defense.
Why / why not?

Interesting article, apparently the Seattle PD has left the “CHAZ” area to avoid battle, and anarchist and thugs have taken over “security”, shaking down businesses.

So express your opinion here and vote on how long it will take and if YOU were mayor, what would you do?

For me as a kid it was Hogan’s Heroes as a TV series and most any WW2 movie from The Great Escape or Mosquito Squadron on the big screen.

Now it’s financial news on TV and espionage movies when available.

How about you?

Trump was ON!.  He made it clear the crap is going to stop.  "I'm going to end the lawlessness now."

Includes National Guard call outs in rioting states, and military deployments to the streets of states where the governors refuse to call out the NG.  Effectively 'You lead or I will'.

I also read that NSA was supporting Minneapolis to identify bad guys.  My guess is all those using chat rooms to coordinate looting and violence are going to be specifically identified and get their on personal parties in the near future.

Boomer was talking about putting out a Public Service Announcement to the effect of if you loot around here...

Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / Rioting in Houston?
« on: May 30, 2020, 05:50:17 AM »
Several news outlets would have you believe most cities are rioting.
Houston images were shown but it’s no clear what reality is there.
Any feedback?

Pretty straight up lesson, if you were going to share some wisdom from over the decades, what would it be?

Interesting idea for a narrow popup power and USB center but they should have thought about the name before marketing it in English speaking countries as "Kungfuking Retractable Automatic Countertops Conference"

Got this in email, the listed company is legit but don’t know anything about it.
You have to give them 2 hrs of online research time if you qualify.

Interesting model of how flat the COVID curve can be or not be, depending upon how well we behave.

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Corona Heat Map
« on: March 16, 2020, 05:59:29 PM »
Hopefully there's some truth in this:  COVID-19 prefers 49-79 degree F environments.  That doesn't mean you can't import it into those environments but the literal heat map is certainly an interesting consideration.

If so, why?  Or why not?
I’m not too worried bio wise but think the economy could take a serious hit.

A new law in NYC has let this criminal commute 139 crimes in the subway with no retribution.
Kind of sounds like what the Dallas County DA is trying to do

Does anyone have a backup generator?
If so tell us about it.
I'm thinking about getting one.
