Was a thought I had heard.  Most answers were somewhat superficial - Would have married a stud / model / been rich / ...

Me, I don't think I'd have changed much.

Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / 4 years later... guess

I'd love to teach High School Physics, or join the Peace Corps.
Guess which is coming true?

Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / AC setting
« on: July 14, 2019, 09:24:48 AM »
Just curious what everyone keeps their AC on in the summer.
We are typically at 76-77 day and night.

Too much caffeine and getting up late will do it to you.

This would be a pucker factor if you walked into your house.
Luckily the little fella was safely removed.

I've wanted to teach high school physics for several decades, but teacher pay couldn't support a family on it's own.

My Father's Day gift was taking a Physics competency test, just found out I passed, YEA!!  So in about 300 hours of classes, I can do that!

Anyone else wanted to do something they've just kept putting off, but hope to get around to it before you can't?

Our oldest son came down from Altus AFB for the weekend.  How about you gentlemen?

Leave it up to those crazy NoKo's to come up with a unique way to execute a former confidant while feeding the fish

General Gun Discussion / Selling guns online
« on: June 08, 2019, 10:11:48 PM »
I've bought several guns online but never sold one.  Particularly with a suppressor.

So it looks like I may need to sell Boomer, with the suppressor and ammo.

Lots of questions, from what websites would you use, or avoid.
How do you deal with an NFA item?
Do  / can you sell the ammo with the gun?
I have hundreds of rounds of ammo, from ball, AP / APIT, to Raufoss rounds.

Anyway, any input would be appreciated on how to sell online, in particular the issues.
Post here or PM me.

I talked to my dog-loving / tech-wizard son in Iowa yesterday, asked how they were / what they were doing.  He said "cleaning up dog poop all over the floor".  Apparently one of their dog's couldn't hold it any longer while they were at work and pooped in a corner.

Shortly thereafter ...  Roomba started it's scheduled cleaning fo the floor. Yep, instead of picking up the dog poop (from a large dog) the Roomba smeared it all over the floor....

I want to be this guy when I grow up:
Thank you each who served.

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Venting...

My life is good, in reality blessed+.  But today has been a really crappy day.

Kim Jung Un has executed some of s people involved in the failed summit with the US.

Florida Bail bondsmen go to a home where the (not a really) bad guy gives them an address (wait for it) that is wrong.
Owner calls cops 3 times during the event, cops come out but don’t let bondsmen in, one bondsman tells another to get the battering ram, then proceeds to bust the security door to get in anyway.
Bondsmen claim a 147 year old Supreme Court ruling let’s them in.

Read the short article and watch the 2 minute video.
You’re the homeowner.

What are you going to do as or just after they break in?

I've had a pretty good career in engineering, but thinking about a second career in teaching.

I considered going into teaching but in the mid-70's you couldn't feed a family on what Texas teachers made.   Engineering paid well and has been a lot of fun,  and developed some really interesting communications things.

I'm at a point where I'm ready to say AMF and go back to school to get a teaching certificate and teach high school Physics (that's not Phys Ed). I like ballistics, electricity, motion, dynamics and related 'physics' areas.   If I'm going to do this I need to do it sooner than later.

Any of you guys made such a transition, or had a career in education?

What do you think?
I just added a poll you can vote multiple answers, let me know what you think.

I hadn't been to the range since February, and it showed.

First couple of mags I kept it on the paper at 15 yards, but barely with LC9s, Beretta M9 and Sig 226.

After ~100-200 rounds, I kept it in the red at 15 yards.

Is this typical when you guys go a while between range visits?

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / What would YOUR wife / GF do?
« on: April 17, 2019, 08:03:32 AM »

This reminded me of stories we’d hear while living in Saudi Arabia, except the stories indicated black eyes and bloody noses were acceptable forms of correction.  Some Saudis were surprised Americans in general didn’t daily / weekly (or ever) beat their wives.

We've had the best job thread (many like the grandparent / volunteer roles), what about your most exciting / pucker factor job?

I'm guessing Tango's was piloting then ejecting out of a perfectly (formerly) good aircraft.

Any others?
