Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Learn from History, but somehow we don't
« on: August 10, 2019, 11:02:52 AM »
A friend of mine sent me this presentation by an Austrian survivor of WWII. Her tale doesn't sound much different from today. It's over 30 minutes, so you'd better get out the popcorn :th_thicon_idea:

THE NEW ANT and the Grasshopper, Two Versions:

The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER   This one is a little different...Two Different Versions... Two Different Morals

OLD VERSION.

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN   and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green...'

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the Black Lives Matter group singing, We shall overcome.

Then Reverend Al Sharpton has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper while he damns the ants. He later appears on MSNBC to complain that rich people do not care

Former President Obama condemns the ant and blames Donald Trump, President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight. Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer exclaim in an interview on The View that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire an proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper .

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.  The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood. The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2020.  I've sent this to you because I believe that you are an ant not a grasshopper! Make sure that you pass this on to other ants.

Don't bother sending it on to any grasshoppers because they wouldn't understand it, anyway.

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Way too go Dallas
« on: March 19, 2019, 05:28:11 PM »
The City of Dallas , Texas  ,  passed an ordinance stating that   if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance ,    the car is towed      ..

To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released..This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.
Shortly after the "No Insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days.
Over 80%      of the impounded cars were driven by illegals .

Now, not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released, they have to pay for the cost of the tow,     a    $350    fine , and  $20    for every day their car is kept in the lot.
Guess what?
Accident rates have gone down  47%
and Dallas' solution gets uninsured drivers off the road  WITHOUT  making them show proof of nationality.

I sure hope this true. If so, other cities should do the same, particularly in Blue states

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Amazon and OAC
« on: February 15, 2019, 08:08:30 PM »
For the past two nights I have been hearing from Lester Holt and other liberal news people drone on about Amazon's decision to not build the second headquarters in NYC is a huge loss for Amazon and a big win for the Progressives. In what universe can it be a win to lose billions of taxable dollars a year ,good for any district. So what is the down side for Amazon, they will just do their business in cities all over the US? What do they lose, the opportunity to have a presence in NYC? OAC is bragging to anyone who will listen that she is responsible for Amazon not moving in. Hell, any other politician that lost that kind of money for her district would have been ridden out on a rail. Am I missing something?

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Latest Naval Interdiction
« on: December 31, 2018, 05:52:16 PM »
Boat Intercepted Off the Texas Coast

The Navy intercepted a boatload of people off the Texas coast today.

This placed the Navy in an awkward position as the boat was not heading to the USA , but towards Mexico and Central America

Another surprise finding was the people were white American retirement age seniors. Their claim was that they were trying to get to Central America or Southern Mexico as they wanted to return to the US as illegal immigrants. Then they would be entitled to far more benefits than they were receiving as legitimate American retirees.

It is believed the Navy gave them food, water and fuel and assisted them on their journey.

My wife and I are booking on the next boat out. Let me know if you want to join us.

Please send it on; if only to one person.

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / The Gravy Train
« on: December 02, 2018, 07:20:25 PM »
I doubt that Trump has anything to do with this, but I sure like the concept.

President Trump is against the “Congress Gravy Train! “

That is why so many of the Congress are retiring.

They hope to freeze their retirement as it stands.

This makes too much sense not to be passed on.

At least we can make our wishes known and hope.

I’m with Trump on this one and always will be. Trump is asking everyone to forward this Email to a minimum of 20 people, and to ask each one of those to do likewise.

In 3 days, most people in the United States will have the message.

This is why the idea should be passed around, regardless of Political Party.

The   Trump Rule’s Congressional Reform Act Of 2018:

1 – No Tenure / No Pension.  A Congressman / Woman, collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they’re out of office.  No more perks go with them.

2 – Congressman / Woman ( past, present & future ) participate in social security.

All funds in the Congressional Retirement Fund move to the Social Security System immediately.  All future funds flow into the Social Security System, and Congress participates with the American People.  It may not be used for any other purposes.

3 – Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4 – Congress will no longer vote themselves pay increases.

Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5 – Congress loses their current Healthcare System and participates in the same Healthcare System as the American people.

6 – Congress must equally abide by all the laws, they impose on the American people.

7 – All contracts with past and present Congressman / Woman are void.

The American people did not make these contracts with Congressmen / Women.

The Congress made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.

The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their terms, then go home and go back to work, and not get all kinds of freebies!

If each person contacts a minimum of 20 people, It will only take 3 days for most people in the United States to receive this message. It’s time for us to take action now!

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Are Guns Now Obsolete?

A friend of mine told me about this video yesterday. I was done by some activist group, but the concept is not too far fetched. Other than the 3 grams of C4, most of the hardware and software is pretty obtainable by a high school or college student today. Pretty scary concept!

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Separated Children Hubub
« on: June 19, 2018, 05:36:42 PM »
All the past week we have been inundated with the horrors of the poor children being ripped from their parents, as if it's a permanent situation. Yet with all the coverage you would think someone would report how long these kids will be detained. So how long do these kids have to suffer, at taxpayers expense?
My research says 3 to 20 days. None of the media seems to care but after about an hour of Internet searches NPR coughed up the facts. So what is all fuss?
Yes being separated from parents can be traumatic, but think what they have been experiencing for the prior months and years. With their parents, were they getting 3 hots and a cot, an air-conditioned roof over their heads, TV, video games, karate lessons and a relatively safe environment? I'll bet some of the kids think that they have scored summer camp.
Tipical for the media, liberals, RINOS, churches etc, everyone is getting emotional about something that is more of an inconvenience than a moral crisis.

The Food Stamp program is administered by the US Dept of Agriculture. They proudly report that they distribute free meals and food stamps to over 45 millions people on an annual basis.

Meanwhile the National Park Service, run by the US Dept of Interior, asks us, "Please do not fee the animals" Their stated reason for the policy?

"The animals will grow dependent on the handouts and never learn how to take care of themselves."

This concludes today's lesson. Any questions?

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / Interesting Take On Trump

I received this today and liked he had to say.

Charles Krauthammer:  Interesting take on President Trump

To my friends "of a different persuasion" I'm not trying to sell anything or anyone but I do feel this is an interesting take on our very controversial president who I truly believe is not Republican or Democrat.

A TAKE ON DONALD TRUMP

A different take on Donald Trump:  (a non-political agenda)

Trump Is Not A Liberal or Conservative, He's a "Pragmatist."

(Definition: A pragmatist is someone who is practical and focused on reaching a goal. A pragmatist usually has a straightforward, matter-of-fact approach and doesn't let emotion distract him or her.)

"We recently enjoyed a belated holiday dinner with friends at the home of other friends. The dinner conversation varied from discussions about antique glass and china to theology and politics.

At one point, reference was made to Donald Trump being a conservative, to which I responded that Trump is not a conservative.

I said that I neither view nor do I believe Trump views himself as a conservative. I stated it was my opinion that Trump is a pragmatist. He sees a problem and  understands it must be fixed. He doesn't see the problem as liberal or conservative, he sees it only as a problem. That is a quality that should be admired and applauded, not condemned. But I get ahead of myself.

Viewing problems from a Liberal perspective has resulted in the creation of more problems, more entitlement programs, more victims, more government, more political correctness, and more attacks on the working class in all economic strata.

Viewing things according to the so-called Republican conservative perspective has brought continued spending and globalism to the detriment of American interests and well being, denial of what the real problems are, weak, ineffective, milquetoast, leadership that amounts to Barney Fife Deputy Sheriff, appeasement oriented and afraid of its own shadow. In brief, it has brought liberal ideology with a pachyderm as a mascot juxtaposed to the ass of the Democrat Party.

Immigration isn't a Republican problem, it isn't a Liberal problem, it is a problem that threatens the very fabric and infrastructure of America. It demands a pragmatic approach not an approach that is intended to appease one group or another.

The impending collapse of the economy wasn't a Liberal or Conservative problem, it is an American problem. That said, until it is viewed as a problem that demands a common sense approach to resolution, it will never be fixed because the Democrats and Republicans know only one way to fix things and the longevity of  their impracticality has proven to have no lasting effect.

Successful businessmen like Donald Trump find ways to make things work, they do not promise to accommodate.

Trump uniquely understands that China's manipulation of currency is not a Republican problem or a Democrat problem. It is a problem that threatens our financial stability and he understands the proper balance needed to fix it.

Here again, successful businessmen like Trump who have weathered the changing tides of economic reality understand what is necessary to make business work, and they, unlike both sides of the political aisle, know that if something doesn't work, you don't continue trying to make it work hoping that at some point it will.

As a pragmatist, Donald Trump hasn't made wild pie-in-the-sky promises of a cell phone in every pocket, free college tuition, and a $15 hour minimum wage for working the drive-through at Carl's Hamburgers.

I argue that America needs pragmatists because pragmatists see a problem and find ways to fix them. They do not see a problem and compound it by creating more problems.

You may not like Donald Trump, but I suspect that the reason some people do not like him is because:

(1) he is antithetical to the "good old boy" method of brokering backroom deals that fatten the coffers of politicians;

(2) they are unaccustomed to hearing a president speak who is unencumbered by the financial shackles of those who he owes vis-a-vis donations;

(3) he is someone who is free of idiomatic political ideology;

(4) he says what he is thinking, is unapologetic for his outspoken thoughts, speaks very straightforward using everyday language that can be understood by all (and is offensive to some who dislike him anyway) making him a great communicator, for the most part, does what he says he will do and;

 (5) he is someone who understands that it takes more than hollow promises and political correctness to make America great again.

Listening to Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders talk about fixing America is like listening to two lunatics trying to "out crazy" one another. Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Marco Rubio are owned lock, stock, and barrel by the bankers, corporations, and big dollar donors funding their campaigns. Bush can deny it, but common sense tells anyone willing to face facts is that people don't give tens of millions without expecting something in return

We have had Democrats and Republican ideologues and what has it brought us? Are we better off today or worse off? Has it happened overnight or has it been a steady decline brought on by both parties?

I submit that a pragmatist is just what America needs right now. People are quick to confuse and despise confidence as arrogance, but that is common among those who have never accomplished anything in their lives (or politicians who never really solved a problem, because it's better to still have an "issue(s) to be solved," so re-elect me to solve it, (which never happens) and those who have always played it safe (again, all politicians) not willing to risk failure, to try and achieve success).

Donald Trump put his total financial empire at risk in running for president and certainly did not need or possibly even want the job; that says it all. He wants success for the U.S. and her citizens because he loves his country!

Notice how quick the old boy drew his weapon and was ready for combat. He tripped a bit, but recovered quickly and completed the task at hand.

Don’t need bullet proof glass windows - - - just an old cop, soldier, or former Marine who is not afraid to engage the criminal and NOT worry about the liability.  This is what gun control is really about.  You control the criminal situation with a gun.
