Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / How wrong is it........

...that this made me laugh out loud?

Interesting video by a woman that is 1/2 Australian and 1/2 American.

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / President Adams was correct....
« on: May 19, 2018, 11:02:17 AM »
Not much of a gripe or rant, I simply understand his statement.

Another founding father that had great insight.

Our second president stated:
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Obviously, we are no longer particularly religious or moral.

Hopefully it will not go anywhere.

One biggie, it makes threaded barreled pistols with a detachable magazine an "assault weapon"

Ammunition / .380 AND 9mm multipacks on clearance at Academy
« on: February 02, 2018, 06:38:14 PM »
Was in Academy today and saw that they have these 200rnd packs on clearance for $31.98.

Thought I would share for those not averse to shooting steel cased ammo.

4 trays of 50rnds in a black molle case.
The same ammo in 50rnd boxes are on the shelf, on sale for $12.99/box.

-Yes, the small shelf tag says Monarch 9mm, but I did not see any 200rnd packs of that (at my Academy) and these ring up $31.98.

Not really news,
just echoes what I have been saying for a while now

A former Facebook executive has said he feels “tremendous guilt” over his work on “tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works”, joining a growing chorus of critics of the social media giant.

Perhaps I missed it, but I didn't see that anyone posted this.

The Democratic legislation would ban the sale, production and transfer of military-style assault weapons, with some exceptions, though owners would be able to keep existing weapons. It would also ban magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

The bill would require a background check on any future trade or sale of an assault weapon covered by the legislation, require any guns grandfathered under the bill to be securely stored and prohibit transferring high-capacity magazines.

Although Feinstein admits it's more for show than go...
"We’re introducing an updated Assault Weapons Ban for one reason: so that after every mass shooting with a military-style assault weapon, the American people will know that a tool to reduce these massacres is sitting in the Senate, ready for debate and a vote," Feinstein said in a statement.

I have a hard time feeling much sympathy for people that own 1 million dollar+ homes on the water or flood prone areas not being smart enough to figure out that their flood coverage of $250,000 will not replace their homes.

.........and at least asking if there is more coverage available.

General Gun Discussion / Hurricane Harvey - Good shoot, bad shot
« on: August 27, 2017, 05:15:20 AM »
Corpus Christi Police had no new information Saturday about a man who was shot Friday by a homeowner after police say he broke into a Southside home.

About 11 p.m., about an hour after Hurricane Harvey made landfall, police responded to the 7100 block of Ficus Court near Yorktown Boulevard where they found a man who had been shot in the head.

Jefferson Memorial exhibit update will acknowledge slavery record

........that means that visitors to "America's Front Yard" will see the Founding Fathers honored, but there will be a new emphasis on their personal records as slave-owners. The changes might first be apparent at the Jefferson Memorial; the Trust, even before the renewed debate over Confederate statues, has been planning to raise money to refurbish the National Park Service exhibit accompanying the memorial, which has deteriorated since its installment about 20 years ago.

Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / Damn global warming

Well, I drove to Colorado and arrived on the south side of Denver yesterday afternoon and the temperature was in the 60's.

Today it snowed all day.....

Good chance for snow tomorrow, but the weekend looks nice. :)

According to the Arlington Voice, the manager of the Zona Caliente Sports Bar and Grill, 37-year-old Cesar Perez, was shot dead by James Jones, 48, of Grand Prairie. Witnesses say Jones was acting very oddly when he confronted Perez.

“When the suspect came in, he walked up to the bar and started yelling,” said police spokesperson Lt. Christopher Cook. “Customers said he was yelling incoherent and strange things.”

With no warning, Jones drew his gun and fatally shot Perez. Police cannot establish any connection Jones may have had with the restaurant manager.

It was then that an unidentified man police are calling the “Good Samaritan” told his wife to get down, and drew his own concealed firearm. The “Good Samaritan” then opened fire on Jones, and hitting him.

and it's not trending on twitter or Facebook, so I guess it didn't really happen....

General Gun Discussion / Wednesday Gun Porn

Motivated by SC-Texas, I took a few photos at the range today.
This is the poor mans edition. :)

My A4 Frankengun.
Surplus USGI Colt A2 barrel, generic flat-top upper, lower receiver is a Rock River Arms.
Scope is a Nikon P-223 3-9x40 mounted with a Burris P.E.P.R. mount.

Zeroing the scope with bulk Federal XM-855:

Watch: Omega Speedmaster Automatic, Cigar: Arturo Fuente Short Story, Magazine: Magpul "Come and take it" edition.

Also had my 16" carbine out today,
Rock River Arms lower with a Daniel Defense upper, Eotech 516:

Officers responded to the scene and were ultimately able to determine the cat did not pose any real threat.

My brother made me a new holster to go with my new pistol.

Wife and I went to the Gun Club yesterday and while I was sighting in my Eotech and Nikon P-223 scope (2 different rifles)

she was at the pistol range with her new 1911 Emperor Scorpion (.45ACP).

75rds, some at 7yds, some at 10yds.

She has decided this is her new favorite pistol.

ETA: The pistol performed flawlessly as expected.  :th_thicon_idea:

Handguns and Revolvers / Buying a 1911 - OUCH!
« on: April 19, 2017, 08:56:06 PM »
While looking for a Sig Sauer 1911 Emperor Scorpion for my wife for her birthday,
I discovered that the original Scorpions have been discontinued.  :frown:

A local FFL (who had the Emperor model she wanted) had one Scorpion left and my wife convinced me to buy it for myself.

Oh boo hoo.......

The grandfather of one of the three armed home invaders who were shot and killed breaking into a home in Broken Arrow (OK) earlier this week laments that the resident’s AR-15 carbine wasn’t fair against the knife and brass knuckles carried by the mask-wearing criminals.

Didn't see this posted yet.....

Freed up by the Supreme Court’s ongoing reluctance to engage in depth with the Second Amendment, the Fourth Circuit has taken it upon itself to rewrite Heller en banc. In a 10–4 decision, issued yesterday afternoon, the court upheld Maryland’s ban on both “assault weapons” and “high capacity magazines.” By so doing, it deprived the people of Maryland, the Carolinas, and the Virginias of the core protections to which the Constitution entitles them.

I was going to put this in my California thread since I am here,
but, it is political...

Funny, how after reading about the mayhem and destruction,
I found this sentence to be the most telling.....
No arrests were made throughout the night.

I did see one Facebook person post this with the article:
Trump supporters not letting a gay man speak at a college/university, these Trumpeters are all scumbags. Could you imagine the outrage if it was democrats doing the protesting?
They should impeach Trump for sending his minions on this poor gay man.
Made me chuckle.....  and yes, his post was sarcasm.
