Politics, Gripes, Complaints / ..I'm sad for our Military..
« on: March 13, 2018, 05:53:00 AM »
sad that since WWII our Military has chosen to "not win" in any of our conflicts

Handguns and Revolvers / .."Luger" site found..
« on: March 12, 2018, 08:40:23 AM »
my renewed interest in obtaining a Luger has led to me finding this fellow's site - along with selling "reconditioned shooters" (which I have some interest in obtaining - along with my desire to own a collectable..) this guy is making new Lugers in .45acp - a bit pricey at $50 some hundred dollars but guess there are some who are interested in having one

take a look at the Handgun Sales tab - those listed are what I'm interested in getting - s "shooter", re-finished with what looks like new barrels and test fired - that tab doesn't show he's got anything currently available so I've requested that, should something become available, I'm requesting to be notified (meantime I'll check his site from time to time to see if he's adverting anything

Handguns and Revolvers / ..ah shucks..
« on: March 09, 2018, 01:00:43 PM »
was in town, at a place that sells yard equipment (dropped off my leaf blower for a tune up) and they've got a small gun shop, so I browsed.....

noticed a Luger and asked about it since I've never seen one for sale in a gun shop before - a 1942 9mm and was on consignment

the bad :  someone had it chrome plated     in my opinion the Historical Value of the piece went out the window when whoever-it-was did that

I personally wouldn't own it - even as a "shooter"

Wife and I don't get out too often for dinner but eating at Pappadeaux in the Woodlands is nice and we go there about once a month

quality of the food is good, service is good - a treat for me by not having to cook  :th_thicon_idea:

Gun News & Laws / ..ah these reporters.....
« on: February 26, 2018, 05:44:54 AM »
I'm thinking this reporter got it wrong.....shudda used "because of" instead of "despite" - they're just never gonna "get it", are they.....

here's a case in which I'm anxious to follow :

commercial pilots are "represented" by ALPA (air-line pilot's assn.) which is an "agency" shop - meaning "membership isn't mandatory but ya still have to pay us"

non-member, dues payer was my preferred status while I was working (vs member/dues payer)

over the years I found that "pilots" who didn't want to fly opted for supervisory position, the training department or union officers

no comments requested here (I don't care what anyone else's opinion might be as I put up with that for 31 years) - just posted the link for those that might be interested

Off Topic Discussion (NON FIREARM RELATED) / ..sunday's rain..
« on: February 25, 2018, 10:02:46 AM »
dang, don't know how it is where you are but here - north of Cut n Shoot/east of Willis - it's been raining A LOT & HEAVILY - reminds of tropical storm rains

and I was hoping it was gonna dry out so that I could get on with chores

the houston WIs (weather idiots) sure missed this one

I suspect that most (perhaps all) at one time or another have been guilty (to some degree) of 1 or more of the 7 Deadly Sins - care to share with the forum ?   :icon_redface:

General Gun Discussion / ..I've been wondering/open carry question..
« on: February 22, 2018, 03:22:57 PM »
working outside in this "crappy weather to be working outside" today always give me time to think about stuff (and I'm really not sure if I do like Cake better than Pie or Vanilla vs Chocolate Ice Cream) - so today I was wondering to myself why it is that people "open carry"

yeah yeah - a law was passed that said "I could, so I am" and then there's folks who are required to open carry as a condition of their employment.....LEOs, LGS employees, Jewelry/Pawn shops and of course the Military

but "why" do some of us "common folk" choose to open carry ?  I know a few, or so, of the folks on this forum choose to do so - but what is the motivation behind doing so ?

(if this has been discussed previously, please offer the direction that I might find that thread(s) )

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / ..5:12 to Paris (movie)..
« on: February 13, 2018, 06:07:43 AM »
have a buddy who said he and Wife went to a theater to see the Clint Eastwood movie (5:12 to Paris) - he related that the 3 Americans (2 Military and 1 civilian ??) were the actual guys from the actual event - and that the train was the actual train - and that some of the other people on the train were the actual people who were on the train when the event happened

I want to see the movie but will wait 'till it comes out on DVD, then rent from Red Box

GRIPE :  I heard or read that some lib politicians are calling the movie "a disgusting Military recruiting movie"

of course lib jollywood/washington doesn't like Clint Eastwood (and I used to wonder why I absolutely hate liberals.....)

have a Streamlight TLR which I've mounted on my AR but now looking for something for my FN 5.7 pistol

don't really want anything too expensive (as is the Streamlight) - something under $100 would work and would like a laser only, no light

any recommendations ?

Tech Zone / ..the Wyze security camera..
« on: February 10, 2018, 10:46:40 AM »
I saw this reviewed on local Houston tv news a few days ago - researched it on-line and sent for it - got it right away - had a bit of trouble "setting it up" but finally got it going and broadcasting to my Wife's IPad - got it so that the Wife can see what's going on with the Horses and/or the Dogs while she's on a trip out of the country - well worth the few $s I spent on it

next will be to see if I can get it set-up on our cell phones (but something to be said of the larger pic on the IPad)

I recommend this product as an inexpensive alternative to a security camera system (which I do have)

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / ..uh, mz duckworth(less)..
« on: February 06, 2018, 11:37:02 AM »
your rhetoric might be cute to some (other p.o.s. libs, for instance) but with your Military oath swearing remembrance you musta forgotten the bit about the POTUS - perhaps it should be written on the back of your retirement check

"I, tammy duckworthless_____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Politics, Gripes, Complaints / .."Oh Canada"..tsk tsk tsk
« on: February 02, 2018, 08:58:20 AM »
"Canada to change lyrics in national anthem, make it gender-neutral".....

I view our neighbor to the South (mexico) as our "criminal neighbors"

our neighbor to the North (canada) as our "sissy/queer/gay neighbors"

curious as to who will be watching the SB.....I won't - absolutely zero interest in anything associated with it - the game, half time show, commercials - nothing

"Alleged Trump mistress Stormy Daniels to sit down with Jimmy Kimmel"

some may remember jimmy kimmel as being one of the hosts of "The Man Show"

from Wiki :  "The Man Show is particularly well known for its buxom female models, the Juggy Dance Squad, who would dance in themed, revealing costumes at the opening of every show, and in the aisles of the audience just before The Man Show went to commercial break and end the shows with the "Girls on Trampolines" segment."

attaboy jimmy - just can't stay too far from the sex stuff, huh ? (a wee bit o'hypocrisy there jimmy ?  :thinker:)
