you'd best remove the "dollar" from your "Johnnydollar" handle
I got my surplus P1 at Cabela's for $359.00 - walked in one day and they had a pile of them.
Last refurbished by the bundeswehr in 1978.

I guess prices have gone over the last year.

Sorry if I offended anyone. But yeah, I am a deal shopper.

Alte Schule, hope you enjoy your pistol, if it is surplus bundeswehr, it's probably in really good shape.

and, FYI, Johnny Dollar is a from a classic radio show by the same name.
Sometimes you can walk in a big box store and just get lucky. I got my first Tokarev at Gander Mountain. Just happened to be in there (a rare occasion) and they were just getting them off the truck, wrapped in paper and soaked in cosmaline. This was nine years ago. Got a really nice Yugo with no aftermarket safety for under $200.
Cabela's going price(s)  for P1's are now $500 to $800. All the ones I've come across in the last few years were $450 to $600 but had condition issues I couldn't live with. Refurbished is OK with me if I could have found one but what got my attention with Aim was it was C&R eligible so it will be delivered to me, no tax, holster and manufactured after the war so the materials had improved considerably.
UPS tracker indicates "out for delivery" so we will see soon enough.
My "ouch" comment was simply my initial reaction to that price.
I said the same thing when I saw the total at the pump a few weeks ago when prices shot up.
It's my equivalent to "yikes"

It really has nothing to do with whether it is a good price, a fair price, or even the market price,
it was simply a reaction to the price for a surplus pistol.

I had the same reaction when I found out the CMP is going to start the surplus M1911a1's from the army at $1K,
and I usually have the same reaction when I get my August electric bill every year.
It was just a smart-assed comment and I apologize.

I am happy you got a pistol that you wanted, I hope it is in excellent shape.

But on the serious side, the people that seem to be in a constant state of irritation and want to decide how others should or should not comment on the forum, just suck the fun right out of it.

I used to come here for fun, talk about guns and shoot the bull, that just doesn't happen much anymore.
If I want to get lectured about any little comment I happen to make, I can go hang out on liberal facebook pages.
- drives them nuts, too.
At least i can have a good laugh when I do that.  :thumbsup1:

ya know, I post these bits of information about offerings in the event anyone might be interested and EVERY TIME I do so there's "someone" who does the "price/ouch" bit

rather than trying to short sheet why not just research and find better deals for the same item rather than just posting for the sake of posting ?
You are correct.
Opinions are not worth posting.

Have a nice day.

I won't darken your door again.
I did apologize, but I don’t think you are the type of person to accept those.

and BTW, you are a cranky old dude....

End of July is when Kennedy said he was leaving.  I’d like to see Congress take action before this Fall.  I realize they’ve got to “investigate” him (or her) and then have their hearing.  But I just don’t want to see the Dems create some kind of roadblock or quagmire that bogs thing down.

They will try an sandbag everything, thats for certain.

But I dont think they can stop it.
Mitch can always "nuke" em again cant he?
I think thats WHY they are trying to get it done before elections.
The democrats will try to stop it.

The problem isn't the democrats....  with only 51 votes, it's the republicans Trump has to worry about.

Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska are the real problem.

I have used bleach, boiled water and used those water purification tablets.

It really depends on the source water, but I have never been overly happy with the results.

I got some bad water while I was in the army, and it's been following me around since the 1970's.

I believe it was Andrew jackson that had a similar experience with bad water that he never really felt like he ever got over.

...

Which, watching their meltdowns are totally worth me voting Trump in 2020.

Is anyone else garnering some pleasure watching the lefty meltdown? :rocknroll2: :th_thicon_idea: :scream3:

I would be a lot happier if it was one of the flaming liberal judges he was replacing.

I doubt any replacement will usher in the zombie apocalypse for the left, except in their minds.

In the scenario provided, there really isn't a perfect way.

You are probably going to end up with an off taste with either chlorine or iodine,
and if you are doing it with household products, you better know the correct amounts to use.

Best solution would be to have the chemicals in tablet form.

Honestly, in your scenario, I would opt for a wide mouth canteen and a $20 lifestraw,
or a lifestraw go bottle.
=and in a third world country where viruses are rampant, that is still not a safe solution

The flamethrower guy is one job I would not have wanted in the army.

Those tanks get hit and you are done.
How about one of these then:
All I meant was, a flamethrower is not something I would have wanted strapped to my back in combat.
It's a big target and highly flammable.

Obama did it for 8 years.
Why are the hypocrites coming out of the woodwork now...
cause it's Trump.

Actually it's been going on since 1997 when a court agreement was reached that kids would not be locked up with their parents at the border.

14
Maybe an FYI,  I simply saw someone post this and I laughed.

I have seen the photo before being used by the left as propaganda,
that kid is not locked in a cage and as satx points out, he is actually a U.S. citizen.

Check the snopes site for for info:
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/toddler-cage-photo/

Quote
....the photograph was taken on 10 June 2018, but it did not show a child confined by immigration authorities to a cage. Rather, it was snapped during a protest staged in front of Dallas City Hall to call attention to the Trump administration’s practice of separating families and confining undocumented children. Different photographs of the event document that the same child was standing a mocked-up “cage” open at the top, and several commenters noted that the boy was crying not because he was confined, but because he saw his mother outside the pen and could not immediately figure out how to get to her.

I just thought it was funny and a use of a leftist propaganda piece used for good instead of evil.

Lots of sources say it's a real billboard in Vega, TX on I-40.

was real... Read an article this morning that they took it down due to complaints...
Interesting,
perhaps we should try that on other billboards....

To me , it makes little difference.
I have rarely bought guns via the internet.
Some of the time I have, they were based in Texas, so I paid it anyways.

What irritates me is that they keep saying people buy online to avoid the sales tax.

Meh, I usually have to pay shipping, so, I don't think adding tax levels the playing field for Walmart/Target/Best Buy like they say it will.

I buy online when I can't get something locally. I hate waiting.
I've used Walmart ship-to-store to get free shipping and their online shopping and pick up in store,
because I have found that lots of things are cheaper if I buy it on walmart.com and simply drive over to Walmart to pick it up.

JohnnyDollar,

Maybe NOT, as it's being reported that the ACLU is now suing the Trump administration for failing to FREE all of the detainees into the USA W/O any limits.
(Given that the FAR LEFT hates everything that is AMERICAN, religious and/or even generally considered to be DECENT & that there any number of "Obama-appointed federal judges", I wouldn't be shocked to see the administration being forced to release all of them.)

yours, satx
My post (problem solved) was a bit of sarcasm.

I have not actually seen the EO, but it sounded like he is still holding them (zero tolerance),
he is just going to expedite their hearing and send them home.

The complaint now is that the facilities for holding all of them will be unfit for minors.
-honestly, they have pretty nice places now, not cages.

Well, it appears POTUS signed an executive order, stopping the separation,
