Title: Another truck
Post by: 308nato on June 30, 2019, 06:47:03 PM
Been looking around for another truck since I got rid of my 1998 dodge.
I need a smaller one that I can fit in my garage along with the wifes car.
Dodge Dakota w/ extended cab
Ford Ranger    w/ same
Chevy S 10      w/same
GMC Sonoma   w/same
Nissan Frontier  w/same

If Y'All happen to come across one of these in good shape and fairly low mileage let me know.

Glad to 308.  What is low mileage and what's a rough budget?

Same here. How far you willing to travel to look at possible prospects too? Where you located?

I once traveled from SATX  to Manchester NH to purchase an 03 F150 Lightning with 36k on it

It was lower price and way lower miles than anything local.
Garaged in winter so 100%rust free also.

Found online and process started online. Sent dwn pymnt and completed pwk in person.
Flew to NH and Drove back to TX.

With all the online car purchase options available now dont be afraid to look at that option.

I'am in the Tomball area and will travel maybe 150 miles to check out a vehicle.
As far as miles go 60,000 or less and a price range of around 14,000.

in the last six years I've bought two used vehicles by using Cars.com. Enter make, model, price range, mileage and distance your willing to travel and it provides a list with photos and the contact info for dealers and private parties willing to sell.

Toyota Tacoma is a good truck, everyone that I know that drives one canít say enough good things about them. Most have owned the same truck for 20+ years

Its all a matter of if it will fit in the garage after I  get my shed to move a lot of stuff into.

I found out a two-car garage, ain't a two car garage! The wife had a 2003 Cavalier when we had the house built, and I had a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab, short bed truck. Her car barely fit in the garage, and mine you couldn't even close the garage door because it suck out!

Ditto. Our current garage has 2Ē extra for my Chevy 4 Silverado. Canít leave the hitch on.

I 'am going to start to check out some dealers on my list for another truck.

Well after hitting a few dealers I came home with a 2015 Nissan Frontier SV King cab.
After all the other ones we drove the wife also said "I like this one also " .
It is silver with all black interior and a bunch of Tech goodies.
It has the inline 4 cyl  5 speed auto and only 27886 miles on it. :th_thicon_idea:
Oh and it now fits in my garage.
I don't know how to post pics so it will be a bit to get the wife to do it.

Also the Carfax report made good to go.

That's great. Nothing like finding a new ride that has all the options you were looking for.
I've stepped up my game looking for a new to me Corvette. With the new mid engine vette out the market for previously owned has been on the rise. Usually I can find maybe three or four vette's that meet my particulars when I search but this morning I found 12 that caught my eye and the prices are slowly dropping. Going to wait a few months and see how things pan out.

Plus 1 on the Tacoma. Great truck, after 10 years, mine had 160k with no problems. ( Just bought a new one). Just change the oil regularly and put gas in it. It will run forever.
the  Downside is that used ones often cost more than the competition :icon_wink:

So far I have no problems with this truck as I have already put 150 miles on it since Saturday .
Still learning how to operate all the stuff this thing has.

The little knobs on the info center is for what is called a radio. The wide slot below it is for your Johnny Cash
CeeDee. :th_thicon_lol:

Seriously I haven't used half the gizmo tech stuff in my Genesis and I'll have it four years this February. The owners manual for the info/entertainment system is 500 pages. 500 freaking pages. When I figured out how to set the radio to my favorite AM station, set the cruise control, clock, seats and mirrors I was good to go. Son and grandson get on me for not using the voice activation controls.
A few months after I bought it I was on the highway driving to Austin, in the rain, when a warning light came on and my speed dropped from 70 to 50. Pulled off in a store parking lot and opened the owners manual to find out what the warning light was. Freaking safety feature telling me I was driving to fast for conditions and automatically reduced my speed. WTF! Took me ten minutes to figure out how to turn that off.

Should be a good truck most of them these days are reliable.
Just not a fan of small trucks and especially 4cyl auto small trucks. But I didnít buy it.
Way to many gadets and gizzmos in new vehicles. They no longer just get you from A to B they take the house and its comforts with you.
