I understand getting a C&R license allows you to buy Class 3 weapons that are 50 years old (circa 1966 or earlier).
Seems like an easy way, $30 for 3 years) to reduce the hassle and get a machine gun.
Anybody have one and any pros / cons?
Thanks.

curious.....why would you want a machine gun ?

I like your thinking Michaele!

I would love one. But the 7k for Mac 35k MP5 keeps me from it. I still want one. But want other stuff more.

New truck or machine gun. I think machine gun, it holds its value longer. If I won the big lotto, my first purchase would be a MG42. Next would be a tank.

MG42, the buzz saw. Supposed to be a blast to shoot, first machine gun with roller bearings, giving it a previously unheard of 20 rounds / second / 1200 rounds per minute. Buy it! BUY IT!!!!!

To All,
I spent a great deal of time on firing ranges & am NOT "turned on" by MOST machineguns. Nonetheless, I's like a Model 1907 Maxim gun, of my own, with all the "goodies" (including the proper caisson & harness) in =either 7x57mm, 8mm Mauser or 7.62x54.
Yes, I have my C&R, though MOST of my "wanted items" are pre-1898.

Maxim machine gun would be my next purchase. It's a close second but that German buzz saw, is iconic!

I like your style!
but if I had a Maxim, I don't think I'd shoot it, 100+ years old. (ok maybe once)

TXAZ,
The Maxim water-cooled gun, in good mechanical condition, is in many ways superior to any of the so-called "modern" MG, except in weight & cost, of course.
(Only the Germans would have invented a MG that had machined oiling cans of white-brass, as part of the normal kit. = For one thing in 2016, it would be insanely/ruinously expensive to build.)
