No major interest in US pro sports, particularly football.
Still haven't figured out cricket in British colonies.

Of more interest to me than the NFL is the ancient Afgan traditional game of "Bushkashy" (numerous western spellings).
It's not unlike many field sports, where the object is to move a particular object across a line or into a goal.
Except they've used a decapitated goat on the end of a rope as they have for many hundreds of years.
And the independent Afghans generally don't like rules, including tactics, number of players.
So almost anything goes, except the field might be gigantic, so you might have to play to see what's going on.

The only sport I like to watch is my 12 year old nephew play little league.

He hit 3 outta the park homeruns last year, which had not been done by anyone in 3 seasons.

He is also the pitcher, and has 9 strikeouts in a row.  He was also the lead pitcher for the All Stars last year. But they are not allowed to pitch a whole game. They actually count the pitches per game and are only allowed so many pitches thrown per week.

The kid is a natural. And he absolutely LOVES baseball. ( which is no doubt WHY he is so good. )  I tell him I wanna see him pitching for the Pirates someday.  :th_thicon_funny:

Probably because of that interest, I actually watched a pro baseball game last weekend.
First one I ever watched on TV.

For years, I gave away company supplied  baseball tickets probably 3 or 4 times a year.
I have no interest in going to a stadium. Did it twice for work purposes, never again.

I've disliked or had zero interest pro sports since I was a kid, which is a trend that continues to this day.

I don't even like watching pro gamers play, and I like video games.

My contact with pro sports is watching reports of how somebody else on a team somewhere got busted for spousal abuse, gun charges, drugs, etc.

Oh, and Dom Whoops I meant to say Shipwreck going bananas about hockey every so often when he gets a new shirt to show off. :th_thicon_lol:

I do not have a lot of interest in sports unless my grandkids are playing.

I have been known to watch "curling" just cause it's weird and I get a chuckle out of it when I see it.  :th_thicon_lol:

The only thing that I used to watch years ago on TV was Swamp buggie races each week other than that
nothing else attracts me
Now if the History channel would bring back TOP SHOP  that I would like to watch.

I regularly watch:

Grand Sumo (one tourney every two months)
Track and Field

I occasionally (a few times a year) watch:

Baseball
International Soccer
Motorsports (Aussie V8, WRC, NHRA)
MMA
Powerlifting/Strongman
Professional Darts
Probably a few other random things (Kabaddi, Rugby, Aussie Rules Football) on some of the lesser known cable networks I get.

I never attend any sporting event or buy any merchandise related to any team/organization.

To All,

IF the Bears (from my prep school), the Longhorns or the Cowboys aren't playing, I could care less about ANY sport, except hunting/fishing/horseracing.

Love college sports. Have lived in College Station for almost 40 years. Lot's of Texas A&M grads and soon to be grads in my family. Wife worked in the A&M presidents office for 33 years. Lot's of perks came with that such as great seats for my friends and I for any sporting event I wanted to attend. Watching college ball is a gimme in my house on Saturday afternoons.
Since I can remember I have always liked professional football and baseball. Cowboys, Yankees and Cubs. Football Sundays and Mondays are usually family festive occasions at my house and I'm not going to let some spoiled malcontents ruin it for me. I enjoy watching baseball on Saturday afternoons. Watched the White Sox and Red Sox this afternoon and enjoyed the hell out of it.
So yeah I like sports. My son was an O lineman on his high school state championship team. My grandson will be a sophomore this coming year. He plays middle linebacker. Friday nights are going to be a blast this year. Can't wait!

Hockey is da bomb. Only sport I watch... I watched no sports prior to being a hockey fanatic. I collect autographs for my favorite team. Got them in person. I have basically run outta room to hang stuff up anymore...

thru my school years I ran track (a sprinter)

my Son went thru the entire school-aged baseball programs (T Ball - Little League - Babe Ruth and Connie Mack) - he also played jungleball and football and ran track in HS and I went to as many of all his games as I could

I followed the LA Dodgers during their hay days with Tommy Lasorda

was able to score UCLA basketball tickets and go to the John Wooden games

but then crap started to happen - muhammad clay dodging the draft, john carlos and tommie smith and their black power salute b,s,,  the US's professional jungleball "dream team" in the summer olympics.....and then.....professional golfers demanding to be paid for participating in the Ryder Cup (tiger woods was the instigator of that movement).....pete rose caught betting baseball games (say it ain't so, shoeless Joe.....)

and now these a-hole pro footballers and their "taking a knee"

nope - die and go straight to hell, all of 'em

I like pro football and hockey, but am only a fan of Houston teams.
I love and support the Texans and Astros, and care enough to pay attention to the Rockets and hope for success.
If Houston ever gets an NHL team, I will be happy to have a reason to actually pay attention to the NHL again.

Word is that Houston WILL be getting one. From what I have read, it seems that Quebec is up for the next one, and then Houston. So, in 5-10 years, Houston may have a pro hockey team.

Does Houston have a farm club there for hockey?

The used to, but they left a few years ago. The Houston Aeros were the farm team for the Minnesota Wild.

They could not come to an agreement on the lease for their facility, and they moved. If I remember right, they went to Iowa, and they have a new name now.

* Domineaux misses the Houston Aeros, and hopes that if we ever get an NHL team, it uses that name that has much history.
