Have any of us here participated in a cold phone call political poll within the last ten years? I and most people I know and associate with don't answer incoming calls if the number isn't recognized. I would bet if the phone screen indicates some type of political research poll most conservatives wouldn't answer. I know I wouldn't.
Many years ago I made the mistake of responding to a political opinion poll phone call from the Republican National Committee. Unknown to me that put me on the how much money can you donate list. I'm talking two or three phone calls a day. I had to ask Senator Hutchinson to step in to get it to stop.
Many opinion polls have questions that are manipulated to get the response the sponsor wants. We all remember the polls indicated a blow out win for Hillary. I guess Deplorable's weren't polled on that one.

Have any of us here participated in a cold phone call political poll within the last ten years? ...

You mean like answering their questions such as:  "Which do you feel is more important, developing an effective immigration policy to reduce crime and help impoverished people or legislating common sense gun control to stop mass shootings by assault rifles?"
(Which is followed up with donation opportunities)

Apparently they don't like a third "common sense option that addresses both questions" as an answer.... :)

Most of the political calls are for the purpose of identifying and collecting from donors, what you think or feel is immaterial to them.
(Did you think they were actually setting policy on your opinion?)

The majority of their questions are to learn about you and determine empathetic notes.
If you don't like their approach, hang up, as most of the callers don't want to talk to an disinterested person.
What they truly *HATE* is for someone to engage them, burn their time, then they walk away with nothing.
Particularly if they find out they've been strung along for the call.
So if you receive one of the calls and feeling frisky, go along with the script, starting asking what they are doing to xxxx on a particular subject, engage them asking dozens of policy questions, THEN tell them you think the President is doing an excellent job.

My wife made the mistake of donating $50 to Romney's campaign. Answered the phone one day and immediately the woman was on the line was on me about donating more. She was definitely a professional fund raiser as she talked so fast it took me 30 seconds to realize what she wanted. When I balked a male voice cut in and the conversation was, as I can remember, as follows:
You donated $50 I bet someone like you could bump it up another $100
Me: I'm not going to give another penny and if you continue to harass me I'll open up a dispute with my credit card company about the original donation.
That's not necessary sir. Aren't you worried about the future of our country?
Me: Go f*** yourself my man. Like I said nothing.
It's people like you that keeps Obama in office.
Me: And it's people like you that piss me off with your constant harassment.. Go f*** yourself.

I'm thinking Alte, this should be your next career, answer "ah-ha", "yes I see", "I understand", "- wait there's my kid with a bloody nose, hang on", and see how long you can string them along.  And.... it's cheaper than DirectTV.

I got a call, just a couple of days ago, from a guy asking if he could speak to a male's name other than mine - told 'em "you've got the wrong number".....he then said he's from the Republican National something in DC and would like to talk about..... but I stopped him, told him I wasn't interested and then hung-up

wish they'd call back so I could tell them that I've voted Repub all my life but that I'll never again vote for any member of the 2 party system - no dems for obvious reasons & no repubs, again for obvious reasons

yeah I know all they want is money but I'd like to say it to someone associated with these buttwipes

but about the bloody nose thing above.....if I recognize a call as a solicitation I'll usually just quietly put the phone down and let 'em talk - until I hear the "beep beep beep" of an ended call, then replace the phone in it's cradle

I got called ONCE for a political poll for OBUMMER . When it became obvious I was a "R", they hung up.

SO they can cram their poles in their "cram hole".  No pun.

Im sure they call most of their people in KNOWN  liberal "D" strongholds.
Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often, and for the same reason.

To All,

The so-called "Mainstream Media" has told so many HALF-TRUTHS & outright/knowing  LIES that NOBODY, who has a functioning brain, believes their foolishness & leftist propaganda anymore, absent PROOF from at least one  known/neutral source.

ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC & (to a great extent) PBS , as well as THE NY TIMES, THE WASHINGTON POST (as well as most of the rest) of the so-called "newspapers of record", are nothing more than "house organs of" the DIMocRATS Party.

Got a survey today.  Among the questions:

5. Do you support restricting access to guns for law abiding citizens?

I expect if there will be a followup email and $ plea that follows.

Have any of us here participated in a cold phone call political poll within the last ten years? ...

On 7/31/2008 (just under 10 years ago), I was polled. I was asked if I was going to vote for Obama or McCain.

I told the VERY young lady that I was going to vote for Bob Barr (the Libertarian). She told me that my choice was between Obama and McCain. I told her that Obama and McCain are not the only names on the Illinois ballot.

She told me to PRETEND that only Obama and McCain are the only candidates on the ballot. I said that I would write-in the Libertarian. She said that she never heard of the Libertarians. I told her that her awareness is not a requirement for my vote.

Then, considering her mentality, I suggested that she might want to vote for the Green Party. She said that never heard of the Green Party. So I said, "You've never heard of Ralph Nader?"

She said that she never heard of him.

I said, "You've never heard of the guy who cost Al Gore the state of Florida, in 2000?"

"No."

So I told her to fix her survey to reflect reality and call me back. She apologized for wasting my time.

Now you know the science behind a certain SCIENTIFIC poll taken on the last week of July 2008 from some place in Virginia.

-

In 1998, Democrats led Republicans 42 percent to 37 percent in 21 SCIENTIFIC polls. In 1996, they led 43 percent to 39 percent in 25 SCIENTIFIC polls. Both times the Republicans ended up winning more popular votes and winning more seats in Congress than the Democrats did.

In the 2002 Minnesota Senate race, SCIENTIFIC polls showed Mondale with a 10 point lead; he lost.

In 2003, two days before the Swedish referendum on the Euro, Gallup SCIENTIFICALLY predicted a 43% to 42% "no" vote. The "no" vote was 56.1% to 41.8%.

A SCIENTIFIC Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on 1/2/08 for Iowa was off by 300% for Obama and 200% for Huckabee.

In 2008, a SCIENTIFIC Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll said that Obama led Clinton by 49% to 36% in the state of California. The margin of error was 3.3 percentage points. Clinton won California with 52% of the vote.

In 2014, with a week to go before the primary election, a SCIENTIFIC Daily Caller poll showed Eric Cantor, the House Majority Leader, with 52% and his rival, Dave Brat, with 40%. Brat defeated the House Majority Leader (!) 55.5% to 44.5%

In 2015, a SCIENTIFIC October poll by Kent State University showed that 56% of Ohioans in favor of legalized pot; the referendum lost 64.1% to 35.9%.

With a week to go before the 2006 Cook Country Board election, a SCIENTIFIC poll by ABC-7 and the Daily Herald showed Tony Peraica ahead of Todd Stroger, 51% to 42%. On the exact same day, a SCIENTIFIC poll by WGN-TV and the Chicago Tribune showed Stroger leading Peraica, 48% to 33%.

With SCIENTIFIC polling like that, why bother hold elections?

Gee Skolnick,
why you want to bring logic, reason and SCIENTIFIC polling into this?  Your pollster clearly didn't!

TXAZ; All,

The short answer is that a large percentage of "respondents" to telephone polls simply don't want to be bothered & either HANG UP, say whatever that they believe is "popular" or answers with whatever the 1st thing is that crosses their mind.

Remember MIKE DUKAKIS?? = The CBS/NEW YOIRK TIMES POLL on Monday before the General Election (on the next day) said that Dukakis was likely to win the race for POTUS by more than 12%.
(Dukakis won TEN States & Washington, DC.)

Polls are nothing but "propoganda" IMO, because they are always slanted somehow for the person the pollster wants YOU to vote for.

My wife is a registered "D", I am a registered "R". The pollsters ALWAYS call  asking for HER, not me. But usually, they decide to poll me until they realize Im an "R".

Then they hang up.

Alot of these so called polls IMO, are to help LEAD and COERCE the uniformed voter HOW to vote.
If they TRY and predict a landslide like they did hiLIARy, they hope their uninformed minions will just jump on the most popular band wagon.

Im sure the "D" s get some votes playing that little game,, but sometimes it bites them royally in the arse.

Like last election.  :afraid4:  :th_thicon_funny: :th_thicon_funny: :th_thicon_funny:

Which is why I realized the reason so many liberals are convinced that Trump somehow cheated is because they were convinced they had the election rigged for Hillary.
It is the only explanation as to how Trump could beat a rigged election.
