Yeah you have been missing out, but sorry man, you missed out on the $50 rebates as well.
There is however another rebate program running currently, which is actually a slightly better value:
https://www.smith-wesson.com/mp-rebate-v2

Best deals currently are right around $300 such as:

Safety: https://gun.deals/product/smith-wesson-mp-shield-9mm-3-barrel-7181-single-stack-black-after-75-mail-rebate-free-shippi
No safety: https://gun.deals/product/smith-wesson-mp-shield-9mm-3-7181-3dot-no-safety-melonite-finish-single-stack-10035-33999

Or $380 for the Performance Center version such as:
https://gun.deals/product/smith-and-wesson-10108-pc-shield-9mm-78rd-prtd-hiviz-38999-314-after-mir

Yeah, sorry man but you missed out. Check SlickGuns or PSA; one of the two of them were doing an in-house rebate in addition to the manufacturer rebate that brought it down to $199 including shipping.

I don't know what the odds are they'll have a sale that good again any time soon, but it wouldn't hurt to check especially as it gets closer to Christmas.

Yup, they are an awesome weapon and much easier to conceal than most 9s. I bought mine on introduction at nearly twice the 250 price. Never a regret. I might even pick up another one from the performance center. Sure looks sexy.

I carry a G43 but the Shield would make a great car gun.

Came in today.. Stiff.. needs rounds put through it to loosen the slide up... I hate that factories use hoppes... I prefer ballistol and the smell of the hoppes kills me.  Will shoot it tomorrow.

I sent the magazine and ammo rebate in online and they didn't give me a confirmation email. I'll call them Monday and ask them if it went through.  Will provide range report when I get home tomorrow.

Have had a 40 shield that was a wonderful gun. Now have the 45 version again fantastic firearm.
Close to 1000 flawless rounds so far. Mags are stiff as new but better after some work. Slide was never overly stiff to me on either when new. Again after some work they are no more difficult than any small frame SA in a 9/40/45 caliber.

3.5 inch barrel means not much time for the spring to slow the slide if not.

The 40 was bought early on so I paid a premium price. Same for 45 as I had to have one as soon as released and again paid top dollar it was almost 450otd. No regrets.

Range Report!

Holy crap the magazines are stiff... It takes everything I have to load them to capacity.  I believe the ammunition I was using was crap... several of the primers did not fire and when I ejected them it tore them in half...

It's accurate.. and it's not tough to shoot..  I like the sights MUCH more than the glock stock sights..

Definitely worth 300 dollars... Will put more rounds down range next week

Picture below is about 50 rounds worth. A few fliers but pretty accurate at 7 yards on a breezy day.

UpLuLa will ease your loading pain.
They get better after about 5 or so boxes through it. However they remain stiff even then  but get hand loadable without to much effort at least.

Indeed, UpLuLa for the win (or at least thumb preservation).

REALLY crappy Fedarm reloads that have about a 4% failure rate... I found one of the rounds with the primer missing and falling out.. on the first outing (the first picture) 7 rounds out of 50 failed to fire or feed...

On the second outing I had only 1 round fail out of about 45.   Still... With crappy reloads like that... it is amazingly accurate.. I bet with magtech, federal, or other quality ammo it's even more accurate.. If that's possible.

Mine gas had NO issue with any ammo brands RN or JHP all feed and fire.

ONLY ammo I avoid is WWB as it seems to malfunction in almost every caliber and gun.

Mine eats steel alum or brass and has not hiccuped once due to ammo.

Yeah the failures are absolutely the ammo and not the gun.. I like the gun. For 309 it was a great purchase. When I get the 2 extra magazines in I might sell my glock 43 and buy a second Shield.
