.
have not owned but considered at one time - don't recall why we didn't - seems like a nice pistol (in either caliber)

in it's stead we bought STI Elektras, in 9mm & .45

I do not own the ECO but I do own 4 Dan Wessons.  They are excellent pistols.  Forged internals, good fitting, smooth action, and very reliable when broken in.

Follow the break-in procedures in the manual and use plenty of FP-10 or equivalent oil.  Run it wet.

To get an equal gun, it usually costs $500 or $1k more.
A well balanced breakfast, being necessary to the health of the nation, the right of the people to keep an eat cereal shall not be infringed.  Now who gets the ceral, the breakfast or the people?
Sure I'll shoot your Glock.  Just hang it with the rest of the targets.

I have previously owned 2 Dan Wessons - the fullsize Valor was my favorite of any 1911 I have ever owned. They make good stuff.

If I wanted a short slide, short frame 1911, the Eco would be my choice.

Worth it?

That is 100% depending on you... "worth" is far to individual for anyone to tell you otherwise.
If you have handled one, and like it, go for it. If you have never put one in your grubby paws than you need too.
