you have to define the conditions,
I carry mine cause I like them.

9mm is for girls,
.45 is because double tap is silly.

Condition 0 – A round is in the chamber, hammer is cocked, and the safety is off.
Condition 1 – Also known as “cocked and locked,” means a round is in the chamber, the hammer is cocked, and the manual thumb safety on the side of the frame is applied.
Condition 2 – A round is in the chamber and the hammer is down.
Condition 3 – The chamber is empty and hammer is down with a charged magazine in the gun.
Condition 4 – The chamber is empty, hammer is down and no magazine is in the gun.

no round chambered, hammer down, safety off, full mag  (probably won't read about me accidentally shooting myself)

and probably should say that my 1911 "carry" pistol is a Sig 938

When I carry a 1911, I carry condition 0 modified. When I holster it's with thumb safety on. Then I snick it off once it in holster. Now i know I will here about this, but Col. Copper and many other did this but did not talk about it. I drilled and pinned my back strap safety down. This is not for the novice or beginner so don't  do it. I shoot around 3000 rds per week out of a 1911 in 9mm with condition 0 pinned. Then when I go to carry, I carry a RIA in 45acp or 10mm in C0 pinned. I practice as lot in C 0 .

Why pin the backstrap safety down?  What benefit can it provide?
